A new thread was suggested when I brought up a "wish" concerning railroads. After consideration I thought I might venture a new thread on the subject of logistics. the goal is to discuss the topic in order to gain insights which may be incorporated into FOF. I would like to ask the developers if they might tell us their ideas and general method of incorporating logistics into FOF. I am not requesting any code or propriatry information.

I have found that one of the most difficult and overlooked areas of wargaming is logistics. It is often simplifed to drawing any lline to a specified point. It may be assumed to work if the the general economy is managed. Yet logistics in the Civil War was paramount.

I look forward to discussion.

Logistics are more than just a line drawn on the map in this game. Wars are won or lost with logistics actually.

BUT THIS game isn't about logistics in that sense. My personal opinion is it works good enough so let it be. I have things I don't like about "logistics" in the game and things I like, overall I am satisfied.

Now if you want more logistics play a game like WitP, of course even that is heavily abstract, just more detail with in the abstract.

Having said that.... this could be an interesting thread.

I agree with Twotribes that logistics is developed in FoF in that you must find that fine balance between guns and butter to win the game yet winning battles is still the key to victory.

Gentleman,

Thank you for responding.  Please note that my interest is in improvement or suggestions not complaints.  I must disagree with the comment that "winning victories is the key to victory."  Consider Gen. Greene's campaign in the southern colonies, Sherman's trek through Geogria, Napoleon in Russia.  Gen. Grant was stopped in his tracks by the attack on Holly Springs.

I wasn't talking about war in general, and certainly not about Napoleon, but the game FoF. where, I believe, you still need to win battles to win the game.
