Hello all,

I select the 'Always play Detailed Battles' in the options screen but i never get offered the choice of doing so.

The game always goes to quick battle.

This happens with large engagements as well ( 10 + Brigades )

I am assuming I am missing something and being dumb :-)

Chris

Heard of this problem before but it was months back.

I cant exactly remember what the solution was but try turn that option off.
ppl might have had to reinstall again, its so long i dont exactly remember.

Kind regards,

Rasmus

Try searching for the file "ForgeOfFreedom.ini". It's probably located in the C:\Windows\ folder. Open it up with Notepad and look for the line: Always Detail Option=1, if it shows =0, then change it to =1 and then "Save". If its already =1, then the problem lies elsewhere.

By the way, for "ericbabe" attention, a more popular and easy location to have the "ForgeOfFreedom.ini" in, is C:\My Documents\My Games\Forge of Freedom folder, instead of C:Windows\ where it is sometimes very hard to locate. Some game publishers even create the Save folder there also, so uninstalls/reinstalls will tend to leave the saved games intact. First time I saw this was with Civ IV.

Check your "Preferences" -- there's an "Always Quick Combat" preference and that might override the other setting.

Thanks everyone  - it was me being stupid .  I totally forgot about the 'Preferences'  screen and the 'Always  Quick  Combat'  was  selected.

What the hell happened there ?

Gil R. -> RE: Unable to play Detailed Battles (6/1/2007 1:23:04 AM)

Looks like a bug in the Matrix forum. We'll put together a patch for that five months from now.

Walloc -> RE: Unable to play Detailed Battles (6/1/2007 1:58:28 AM)

Isnt that pushing it time wise Gil.[;)]

Gil R. -> RE: Unable to play Detailed Battles (6/1/2007 2:00:20 AM)

Yeah, make that six months.

Gray_Lensman -> RE: Unable to play Detailed Battles (6/1/2007 2:17:27 AM)

Doesn't look to me like any of "ericbabe's" code, so I'm ruling him out as the culprit, here. [:D]

edit: Oh, Erik is quick with the scissors, looks like we won't have to have a "Forum" patch after all. [sm=happy0065.gif]

Any news on that forum patch. I love the forum but having been burnt before I always wait until the 1st or 2nd forum patch before posting.

What will be in the forum patch ?
When will the forum patch be available ?
Do you have any timetable for beta release of the forum patch ?

Don't know why I am mucking about on here, the damn Yankees are kicking my but all over the good old CSA. Time to go RTFM

Quick one :-

Is it 'accepted' practice to give up Little Rock early on in the game playing as CSA ?
