MechFO -> COI doesn't load (6/1/2007 7:14:38 AM)

Hi

Just bought the game and installed it.

When I try to start it up I get a red loading bar for a second, after that I just get a black screen with the game mouse pointer. After a few seconds I hear a short sound clip but the screen still stays black. No activity after that.

Tried different screen resolutions, running in Win 98 compatibility mode, doesn't make a difference.

A. try holding down ctrl when you launch.

then turn off videos

alternatively

download the intel codec from CSO Downloads in command centre

Command Centre\CSO Downloads\Utiliteis\ Intel Codec for CoI

then run that before launching. (only needs to be run once)

Turning off videos worked. Thanks!

Does anyone have a link to another site that has the codec?  CSO downloads haven't been available for several weeks.

So how does one turn off the videos?

Also, I downloaded it and launched it (without cntrl) and no problems, should I mess with it or leave it alone.

If it works you are in business.

A few people , only, are having problems with the video codec.... it's not installed on their PC.

If you want to turn videos off...

From the options screen there is a box to tick if you don't want to run videos....... after you've seen them 4 or 5 times you might want to enable this option.
