I am interested in replaying historical seasons and as I recall it was fairly simple to create associations for this in the older versions of Pure Sim from the lehman (sp) database. Am I thinking of another game or am I missing something in doing this with Pure Sim 2007. It looks like you actually have to draft players from the historical seasons one player at a time to the correct team.

darossi,

Actually, no. Before I prepared a reply, I ran the process myself, just to be sure my memory was correct. Just because, I started a replay association beginning 1905:
  • I went to New Game and was taken to the Select Game Style screen.
  • I selected Real Major League Players - Career Mode and then scrolled down to 'Start replay in 1905'
  • After selecting continue, I was given the opportunity to choose which, if any, teams I wanted to run myself. As Marlins weren't around then, I instead chose my friend's favorite team; the Cubs.
  • I kept the 35-player roster, since I'm not planning on playing this association out all the way. I also left most of the settings alone, except for Player Affinity which I turned ON and I removed the year designation from the players' names-- I dislike that. The Player Generation Models section has, by default, the "Seed Association with Real..." box checked.
  • After clicking on Continue, the game starts to Import players and rate them. Scouts then evaluate talent and once that's all done, I'm taken to the Home screen.
  • From here, on the upper left-hand corner is the option to Click here to load rosters from 1905. I click on that and the game, all by itself, starts populating teams with their proper, respective players.
  • Once that's all done, it's time to go through Spring Training.
  • From there, it's like any other association...

Frozen,

Thanks a lot, that did it. It probably would have taken me a while to figure that out.

Darossi, FS left out the really cool stuff -- adding player photos, team logos and historical ballparks (where available). [:)]

If you're interested, we'll give you the scoop on how to do this. As a matter of fact, I can set it up for you, free of charge. [:D]

He's right. I didn't take it to that extreme because the association I was putting together was just to see if I was doing it right, I wasn't thinking about the long-term details.

KG, however, lives for this stuff.

....if you make him grovel enough, he'll actually pay you!

Hello darossi,

The thing I like about Historical seasons are they are just a little off from actual stats.  KG and FS are right, the fun is in the additives !!

Frozen Stiffer -> RE: Historical Seasons (11/10/2007 6:30:53 AM)

Sometimes, they're so close to REAL results, it's scary! When I ran my 2006 Marlins association, we ended the season with a 74-88 record. Their actual record for that year was 78-84.

Whoa.
