This is just a suggestion, but is it possible to add in a unit identification check in addition to spotting ability? Rather than revealing the exact type of enemy's unit as soon as it is spotted, it'll be reported as generic infantry, armor, artillery, etc. untill the spotting unit passes unit id check. It'll add more suspense to the gameplay if this is possible...

This has been done in Combat Mission. It goes even further, there can be "sound contacts", i.e. enemy units, which have only been heard, not seen.

Not able to do all that, but did reduce the initel on enemy infantry - you now only know in general how many men byt he icon, the "number" on emeny units is gone...
