So Im playing as Japan.. its almost May 43... Ive pretty much wrapped up operations in China, and am going to pull a number of divisions out and reposition them in my island defensive chain.

But I want to send them to Tokyo first to upgrade to the newest "equipment" avaialable.

I think the IJA squad goes through 3 upgrades.. increasing firepower slightly each time.. but I need to know when these upgrades become avaialable.. and what is neccesary at a base to have the upgrade occur (HQ? ammount of supply?)

But most important is the dates the infantry squads upgrade..

Try to look into database inside the game (ships, guns, army equipment) and locate squads there (named somelike this: IJA Infantry squad, IJA INfantry squad 8/42, IJA Infantry squad 9/43....).
HQ, supplies, COs admin skill and arament industry big enough to create upgraded squads into pool are the factors i think.

Lokking up stock Scen 15 database it gives the following dates:

IJA Cav and Inf squads - 6/42 & 12/44
SNLF and IJA Mot Squads - 7/42 & 12/44

Various modifications give different update times... in CHS, they actually let you know when things are upgrading because they tell you the type of squads you have... ie: IJA Inf Sqd 41, or USMC Inf Sqd 41 - you can see when they start to get replaced.

Also, you can at least get the year of the upgrade just by looking at the ingame database and seeing what the units are. [8D]

not having played a modded scenario long enough to see the squad changes, how do they happen?
Is it like replacements - they trickle in a few a day; or
They are all upgraded in one hit - assuming enough in the pool

(assuming base with enough supplies etc, etc)

I have seen it happen only twice IIRC. On those ocasions all of squads in a division were replaced with new model in one shot.
