Thinking no more than 4000points for artillery as you suggested.

vahauser -> RE: Large Battle (8.403) (6/15/2007 4:09:58 AM)

Okay.

Here is where we stand as far as I can tell.

Meeting Engagement US Army (Player1) vs. German Army (Player2)
June 1944
Large Map
Visibility 20
Game Length 25 Turns
Good Weather

No Commando Operations
No Airborne Operations
Airstrikes allowed
No Reinforcements

Both sides are limited to a maximum of 4000 points spent on artillery capable of indirect fire.
I suggest that airstrikes count against the 4000 point limit. What do you think?
I further suggest that light mortars do not count against the 4000 point limit, for two reasons: 1) light mortars are overpriced and possess very limited combat power; and 2) some light mortar units are built into certain infantry platoons, and this makes it very difficult to calculate exactly how many points are being spent on ‘artillery’, so simply ignoring light mortars greatly simplifies things. What do you think?

EDIT: I'm ready to start this battle as soon as we clear up these last little details. I want to use save slot 003 for the game. Can you make save slot 003 available on your machine?

As far as I know, these are the final negotiations, and then we can start.

Negotiation 1: I suggest that airstrikes count against the 4000 point limit. What do you think?

Negotiation 2: I suggest that light mortars do not count against the 4000 point limit, for two reasons: 1) light mortars are overpriced and possess very limited combat power; and 2) some light mortar units are built into certain formations (note that medium mortars built into certain formations would still have to be manually calculated), and this makes it very difficult to calculate exactly how many points are being spent on ‘artillery’, so simply ignoring light mortars greatly simplifies things. What do you think?

Negotiation 3:  I suggest that neither side be allowed to conduct a 'pre-game' bombardment (in other words, no bombardment can be ordered during deployment), and that bombardments can only be ordered starting on Turn 1 and later.  A 'pre-game' bombardment ordered during deployment gives Player1 (in this case, the US Army) a big advantage.  An alternative choice would be to allow smoke only during 'pre-game'.  What do you think?

Do you have any final negotiations to discuss besides these last three?

We can get this game started immediately as soon as we finish these final negotiations.

I have already cleared my save slot 003 to get ready for the game.

1. Yes I agree airstrikes should count against the 4000 point limit
2. I assume we can not count the light mortars
3. I strongly agree to this term [:)]

I have to run some errands today.  But I should be able to get the game set up by suppertime.

Do you want to allow smoke during 'pre-game'?

Do you have any final negotiations?

Okey now do I sent you back those files in my email folder?

vahauser -> RE: Large Battle (8.403) (6/17/2007 1:33:12 PM)

I should have explained the procedure more clearly.

To play PBEM you need to be in 'Play by Email' mode, not 'Single Player' mode.
Yes.  You should have 4 files in your Email Folder.
Zip those 4 files and name the zip archive something like GermanDeploy.
Then send the zip file to my email adress.
