There is now a new version of Age of Rifles available on the Yahoo Group which has DosBox integrated into it and which runs sound and all with no problems on Windows 10. Here is a Dropbox link to download it. You will need something like WINRAR to unpack it though. Once this is done just click on the "START THE GAME" icon to launch, and make a shortcut from this.

Great download. Just unpack and play. It even has my old scenarios - which I lost in a computer crash years ago.

The link has expired.

Is anyone able to provide another link? I would love to have a try at this again.

Many thanks.

This new download version - with even more scenarios - was created recently:

I helped playtest Age of Rifles. I think that was one of Norm's best games (with the possible exception of Operational Art of War). I too hope someone will publish something along the lines of AOR. Loved playing it.

A decent tactical-turn based game set in the XVIII and XIX century... still a dream [:(]

I checked out a game play video on YouTube. I do recall seeing screenshots of some game that has similarities to Age of Rifles: hexes, formations, rifles... Game in question could be about American Civil War. Didn't memorize the name.

Found 2 close match:
Brother Against Brother
Forge of Freedom: The American Civil War 1861-1865

Could those be what you're looking for?

It was a good game. I had it plus the extra scenarios disc.

Another possible substitute might be Pike & Shot Campaigns - I know that sounds odd but the game system is similar in some respects and there are at least two user made scenarios that cover Civil war battles.

demyansk -> RE: Age Of Rifles?? (1/26/2018 9:16:19 AM)

Are the games on old games free or a small price?

Alan Sharif -> RE: Age Of Rifles?? (1/26/2018 12:23:42 PM)

A very small price. See post two above yours for details. Best make a list of all the titles that interest you first, if you are planning to download.

Is that source legitimate? I see there is Gary Grigsby's World at War. Does the site have permission from Matrix/Slitherine to have it in there?
