mikmykWS -> Network Fixup Message (6/13/2007 2:48:34 AM)

Hi Guys,

Have a "Network Fixup: multiple Root subscribers in network" message in my message dialog during scenario load of the 3.8 release game.exe. Its not block or anything but what exactly does it mean? Doing some scenario rebuilds so if there is a fix needed somewhere let me know.

Thanks

Mike

Happens on pretty much every multiplayer game in the server window as well fwiw but been that way for a number of beta releases.

Turns out its just a message displayed in that dialog to let us know something got fixed. Harmless.

That's pretty much correct Mik. The scenario editor will attmpt to fix the comm networks up in light of the new comm type flags being implemented. There may be cases where opening the game in scenedit isn't enough to fix your comm links. In this case you should use the following hotkey combination:

(Ctrl-Insert)

This should fix any units that are linking incorrectly. I found an occasion where a group would drop from the network although the individual units were capable of being given orders the group would not respond. The (Ctrl-Insert) combination ensures that the comm network is forced for all "troublesome" units/groups. I'll throw that into the wiki as well.

Cheers

Darren

Yeah thanks Darren, makes sense. IIRC there was a hotkey page as well. Wiki entry pretty easy.

Here's the official useage of the (Ctrl-Insert) explained. You may be interested Mik as it's concerned with initial scenario setup.

Ctrl-Insert does nothing about this (Network Fixup), it forces all units on a side in the editor to be on the same network for purposes of setting up inital orders and mission assignments.

I'd had some issues when rebuilding and it ended up as a bug report.

This is a message that indicates a unit was found that violates the integrity of a comm network. This is a leftover from a bug uncovered (and probably introduced) somewhere on the road to 3.7.0.

That's from Darrell, and stupid me forgot it was my bug to start with...[&:]

Cheers

Okay thanks guys.. If you put this kind of stuff in the wiki I promise I'll read it before posting [:)]
