Ok, ie L2D2 Tabby have a load of 10 000.
10 000 of what?

question to all helpfull souls here:

hom much
supply
troops
fuel (?)
resources, oil (?)
can I transport on one trip using Tabby and its 10k load?

Thanks!

10,000 pounds.

So for items whose weight is measured in tons, this should translate to 5 tons. Then you can check the loadcost of the devices (in the editor) to see how many of them can be carried. Supply points weight 1 ton each. I have not tried to verify any of this with testing, but this would be the theory.

iirc there are limits regarding the biggest piece of equipment a plane can load. Eg a tank or large artillery is only air transportable in some type of planes. So you might want to check in the editor what your plane can carry and what the heaviest piece of equipment weights in order to avoid a logistical nightmare with fragments all over and LCUs lacking heavy weaponry.

Not sure this is true - there may be a glitch (some people have mentioned it) that allows (for instance) entire armored divisions to be air transported!! i haven't seen a division get moved, i have seen 6" CD guns get moved by Catalinas...

Feinder -> RE: Transport Planes Load (6/14/2007 7:36:58 PM)

Yes, each supply = 2000 pounds.  Hudson's capacity is 2000 pounts = 1 supply per turn.  C-47 capacity is 10,000 = 5 supply per turn.

If your max load is under 2000 pounds, I wonder if if you're just stuck carrying nothing?  The game usually rounds DOWN after all...

As far as load cost of troops, that's harder to quanitfy how much will fit on your transport (beacuse a load cost of 12 does NOT = 24000 pounds).  I don't know how it quantifies the load cost of the LCU elements to the capacity (but it obviously does).

Ball-park : You can lift a USMC Air or Raid Btn in about 2 - 3 days with a single Sqdn of C-47s.  Call it 3 days.  The Btns have an AP load value of about 1000 (actually about 800, but the math will be easier).

16x C-47s x 10k capacity each = 160k each day (if everybody flies).
3 days to lift 1000 AP capacity = 333 AP capacity per day with 160k lift.

Do some rounding.  Call it
150k lift (total) to haul 300 AP capacity in a day.

We'll say VERY ROUGHLY
500# capacity each plane = 1 AP capacity per day (assuming the the item is light enough to be lifted).

device size is supposed to limit it, but it doesn't always work right. Not sure if it was fixed yet. either way, you can move alot of stuff fast.

I think strangely the penalties seem to apply fairly rigidly to poor ole airborne units (designed to be airtransport/airdropped), but I've moved entire IJA divisions 100% - by airtransport, artillery and all.

Nikademus -> RE: Transport Planes Load (6/14/2007 8:19:48 PM)

I moved an entire US Armored division.....tanks and all.

[:D]

One reason i rarely use air transport in PBEM games....it bursts my supsension of disbelief. [;)]

I bet you couldn't do that if it was an Airborne Armored division (a.k.a. a Falschirmpanzer Division)

Nikademus -> RE: Transport Planes Load (6/14/2007 9:26:25 PM)

of course not! i can't even move all of my Nipponsese para with arty. [:D]

Strange brew....strange game. [8D] take off....eh?

Fokkov2 -> RE: Transport Planes Load (6/15/2007 1:42:23 PM)

I've evacuated an us engineer units from manila, which left all heavy equipment and some squads behind .
put them on no supply , then airlifted them out of china to get them home.
But somehow the've got hold of an truck again [:(].
No i have 1 truck with 20 man making an epic journey back to Inda as it won't get into any transport planes i tried to use.[:@]

as i read some other post it would have been better if they had hijacked some kind of tank,
they would have been home months ago.

Mistmatz -> RE: Transport Planes Load (6/15/2007 2:48:12 PM)

According to this thread:
http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=662374&mpage=1&key=transport%2Cplane%2Ccapacity򡱞

the maximum "load factor" of a device is 7 to get an item loaded onto a transport plane.

When 10.000 pounds on the C-47 are 100 load factors this means the limit of '7' means a weight of 700.

I checked with the witpload tool on CHS 155 scenario and this means every piece of LCU equipment (including som CD guns) could be airlifted. Obviously this is not the case, so there must be some other factor that determines which piece of equipment can be loaded and which not.

On the other hand if said load factor translates into weight nothing could be airlifted unless being a 'pack item'. But how do I know if an item has this attribute or not?
