Thanks for the screenshots.

I probably wouldnt say that, i think the carriers could just use a plane symbol of some type over the deck or something. [[:)]

Charles2222 -> RE: just some pics (6/16/2007 9:55:36 AM)

I was considering whether to buy any of the recent releases, but these screen shots I think have just about sealed it for me. All those hexes to represent so much space; so nice. The convoy shot is particularly intriguing. I have never played SC at all, but do have some experience with these type of games. The GGWAW game was something I avoided like the plague because of the lousy seasonal turns. What sort of turns do you get here? Bi-weekly or monthly? I'm rather sure it's not weekly, but how much sweeter it would be if it were!

I'm not a big WITP fan, but WITP points out to me, no matter whether it be complex or not, the crying need for a mostly land-based game that has daily turns like WITP. Then again, you're playing more than one nation here (like possibly in WITP) and of course daily turns means much more hexes, but I would love that. I do wonder since originally the WIR2 game was supposed to be based on 10 mile hexes, if in fact that game wasn't/isn't destined for daily turns. Man, I just drool thinking about it; WIR on a daily basis (though the weekly turns of WIR were very nice).

jynx11 -> RE: just some pics (6/16/2007 10:35:03 AM)

have played the TcpIP with 5 min/turn, 3 min/turn and even 2 min/turn. For experts with fast computers, 2 minutes per turn is still a real stretch. For experienced players it should be possible to play the turns in France in less than 5 minutes.

One turn is 20 days so one year is 18 turns per side, but this is moddable in the scripts as with many other aspects of the gameplay :)

Same game, February 1941, germans and italians appear to be setting up to attack russia. Hmmm, are they feeling froggy? Russia is still frozen but I can produce units and play with research.

Thanks for the screenshots, much appreciated. I can't let it pass though - that is a truly awful map of Scotland on the third one.

Yours sincerely,

Obviously to make 20 day turns, as 1 day turns, would totally screw everything up, and I guess one could change the turn length quite a bit, but there would have to be the more radical map changes for the more radical the turn changes.

typhoon -> RE: just some pics (6/16/2007 3:07:08 PM)

Thanks for the screenshots just sold me the game. Looks so much like Panzer General I just could not resist any longer. Downloading now.

I noticed the same thing in the official screenshots and had hoped it would be corrected in the final. Looks like it wasn't, b/c those BB's are definitely DD graphics. If a WWII game designer can't figure out what ship is a DD and which is a BB, it doesn't instill much confidence for me to risk a purchase... [:-]

I think it was accidental.

If the current DD and BB graphics are switched, with the one being enlarged, while the other is reduced in size, it will all look fine.

IainMcNeil -> RE: just some pics (6/18/2007 6:32:24 PM)

It looks you're right on the naval graphics. A big doh....

You can't see the wood for the trees when it gets to the end of a project. We'll have to fix this in a patch. Sorry guys.

Fred98 -> RE: just some pics (6/19/2007 1:16:19 AM)

The counter artwork is correct.  It is the 3D artwork that was switched in error.

I understand...I do...I often say the same thing "If they can get something as simple as x right, then what the hell have they missed?"

But let me tell you...if you are going to let a "switched graphic" hitch determine whether or not to buy this game then, in this particular instance, you are letting a gem slip away.
