July 1943. After much effort, the US Conscription Service managed to amass the chaps they had put a lot of time into, the V Amphib Army. They were quite happy to have efficiently trained them to spearhead our imminent Central Pacific landings. And thus, they were merrily sent onto me, assembling at San Fransisco...
Late August 1943 (thankfully, still). Da boyz will not budge! I have tried coercion, intimidation even bribery to no avail. They simply refuse to leave the Fresco joints, the spacious boulevards and the happy life of California!! Short of having them shot, I am thinking of distributing promo leaflets of Baker Isle, adorned with scantilly-clad Polynesian beauts. Who knows, they may elect to swim there, for sure as hell they will not board any transport ship. Be it landing craft, AP, AK, submarine or the Kon-Tiki. (R&D=Revel&Debauchery)
Narrative aside, for more than a month I am attempting to load said HQ (CenPac) and it's just wouldn't happen. Tried load troops only, load in general, no go. The various ships I employed end up loading supplies. Interestingly, this is not the first time that ships "decline" to load troops or planes, but usually, by unloading and trying at the next turn, they do me the favour. However, these Amphib guys go by their own rules I guess :)
