Gents,

I have read that it is possible to kick Britain out of the war by taking Karachi and Bombay.
Question is: what does this mean in a game terms?
Is this automatic after fall of Karachi and Bombay?

I think it's a matter of if you own Karachi and Bombay, there is no place for the British units to arrive, so they just stack up.  If -do- own Karachi and Bombay, you're kicking some bum, and it will be very difficult for your opponent or the AI to recapture one of them (to release the reinforcements), esp without additional British help (because all of the arrivals are just stacking up).  But no, (to my knowledge) the game doesn't suddenly withdraw all of the surviving British forces if those two places fall.

To add to what Feinder said and I think the manual covers this pretty well. For each nationality there are certain bases at which reinforcements arrive. If taken the reinforcements stack up. I think the same applies to Australia and China, but I dont think it appliese the Dutch or Phillipines or Kiwis. It's been a while since I read that part of the manual, so its possible I may have remembered that wrong.

Also, take note that when you recapture the arrival ports, land and air units that have been waiting appear at once but ships only resume the countdown, so if you do it late, you'll never see much of the british pacific fleet.

I took all of India then returned Karachi a week later as per a house rule. Brit units stayed in play and new ones have arrived at Karachi.

I believe if the extended map is used, Aden is an alternate British reinforcement port.

Actually Aden, Panama and the sealanes to those cities are meant to be untouchable for the japs with the extended map (by houserule). This makes it possible to own all of India for the japs, but the brits still have a realistic chance to get back into the game. But then, it's just what it's been meant for...

I actually recommend that Aden is untoucable, but that Panama is fair game. That forces the Allies to actually garrison it. Alternatively, if you play with a house rule that Panama is untouchable, I suggest that the Allied player also be prohibited from moving any of the Panama garrison (land or air units) out.
