I am very happy to see that the Campaign Series has been redone. I have the orginal series (still install on my lap top and play when I get the chance).

However, from my limited reading and viewing of screen shots, it doesn't really seem to be updated to the 21st century. This is not a flame or a jab, but from what I have "skimmed" over it looks almost the same.

My question is what has been done differently in that I would need to purchase and install this version?

Again, this is just a question - please don't take offense.

Regards.

Note: I just looked at the FAQ post " What you will get" and I noticed it seems to be new campaigns and scenarios.

I was really hoping for an enhancement of the graphics (3D) since they are sometimes VERY HARD to see in the old version.

Could anyone give me a simple Old Version vs. New Version review? Maybe there is already one posted - if you could direct me there.

They are almost the same. The project was never meant to deliver anything different; the idea was to update a few things (principally to full XP and Vista compatibility), bundle up the games and the expansions, and re-issue them. With all of these recent and upcoming 'golden oldies' like the Talonsoft ACW and Napoleonic stuff, and Cross of Iron, I think the 're-issue' bit gets ignored - most potential purchasers will not have bought them first time around.

I was happy to 're-buy' the CS as although I have all three (four including DG, which isn't included) games I didn't have the expansion stuff, getting them to run on XP was a pain and one day I will no doubt 'upgrade' to Vista. The other thing is that any continuing development of the series will be based around this re-release, not the originals. Well worth twenty quid, IMHO.

Thanks.

It was one of my favorite games (still is). I have the orginal installed on my Win 2000 lap top, but had problems getting it to run on XP.

I don't have all the expanision stuff (only West / East II).

I think you are right - getting all the expansion stuff, knowing it will work on XP, and having new scenarios is well worth the money.

I am sold!!!

Thanks.

I bought it again because the older games ran like ass on my newer system.
