Rybeck -> Quick question on CHS (6/28/2007 8:15:02 AM)

Am trying out CHS 2.08 scenario 155 for the first time. When I click the preferences and options (P), I notice there's a message "would you like to add 1.60 database changes?"

Seeing as Witp is now at v1.806, do I ignore this or click on it anyways? Thanks.

You should ignore it. All of the changes in the "1.60 database changes" are included in CHS already, or not relevant, and pressing the button will probably do nothing except damage the scenario.

Halsey -> RE: Quick question on CHS (6/28/2007 10:39:21 PM)

Yep, ignore that upgrade for ALL mods.

It's a stock thing only.

ny59giants -> RE: Quick question on CHS (6/28/2007 10:55:40 PM)

I am in a CHS PBEM game and just received an AP transport with almost 11000 capacity and speed of 23 (12/41). [X(][X(]
Is that the largest transport the Allies receive or is there others??

Halsey -> RE: Quick question on CHS (6/28/2007 10:58:16 PM)

The Aquitania is the best.[;)]

I usually put her with some Canadian Liners and run nothing but a long range troop TF with these guys.
Protect these ships.

They are not for Amph assaults.
Too valuable moving troops.

Thanks!! When do the Canadian Liners become available??

Right now I'm getting those Wakefield Class AP's (Speed 22, 6670 Capacity, & 25k fuel) together with the Aquitania. I will use the 3 Taney Class PG's (Speed 19, 9500 Fuel, & ASW 8) for escorts until the Bagley Class DD's (8000 fuel) go through their 4/42 upgrade in get their ASW up to 4. [:D]

Halsey -> RE: Quick question on CHS (6/29/2007 1:39:11 AM)

You probably have a couple already.

Check your individual ship menu and look for the fast AP's.
Canadian Pacific Liners.
Can't remember all their names.

By 12/42 you'll have enough for two of these fast troopship TF's.

One for the US and one for India.[;)]

BTW, some of the Allied AMC's have cargo capacity.
These make a fine addition to these troopship TF's.[;)]

The liners have too large a load capacity to use as APA's.
They take too long to unload in the assault mode, plus they are irreplaceable.

Halsey -> RE: Quick question on CHS (6/30/2007 1:54:50 PM)

Almost forgot.

Locate your Castle class liners.
These guys are fast too.[;)]

A quick question on Scenario 158c which is the latest Nik Mod. Has the amount of time needed to repair AF/ports been increased along with the amount of rest needed for LBA to recover moral?? It seems to me that it is taking Pearl a long time to come back up after the intial attack. [:(]

No. Repair times and morale recovery rates are code-related things.

You are unaware perhaps that the 50 odd bombs dropped on those airfields during the initial attack are tactical nuclear warheads.

I think a lot of them took out the equipment of the local engineers. That and the fact the bulldozers were from a Japanese company. [:D][:D]

I thought the same when I started my CHS game recently. It took longer than I expected it should because of the 200+ engineers shown, about 130 of them are combat engineers and they don't contribute to the repairs. Of the 80 odd "regular" engineers, about half were disabled, but just like the combat engineers, disabled engineers are added to the engineer total on the base info screen. So once I finally figured out who was working on the job (about 25% of what was shown), it actually took about as long as I'd expect such a large port & airfield to repair so much damage.

'Combat' engineers contribute to repairs (and/or construction) if 'regular' engineers are present at a base (this is not CHS-related, same in stock).

Based on my experience that may only be true if they're in the same unit, which is not the case with the combat engineers @ Pearl. Both being present at the base isn't enough. At least not for the US in CHS for me.

edit -

The reason for differentiating between stock & CHS is because in the stock game the units with combat engineers @ Pearl also contain regular engineers.
