Just received my game and it is well done, love it. If this has been asked before sorry. How do you invade Port Moresby? I destroyed two American carriers and put my invasion force as far into the port that I could and for three days nothing happened with the invasion force what am I doing wrong? Do you have to do more than put it on the ports doorstep thank you.

Click on the Port Moresby Invasion Force. A pop-up menu will appear. Select Mission. Select Invade Port Moresby. It's but one of many "Easter-eggs" included in the game. You can do this at the start of the scenario, btw, before you even start the clock.

There are a couple of show-stopper bugs in the game, but it should be okay once they are ironed-out and the game is patched. For now, when you find your CAP or strike missions not behaving properly, do a search here for an explanation and work-arounds.

Thank you Prince for your help it worked fine, many thanks for being on the forums where you can answer questions so quickly. Have a question about Pearl Harbor even if I know no one will play it much after a few times, when I attacked Pearl as the axis, I left the airfields alone and I did not see 1 plane take off to intercept my attack even after a half hour of attacking. Is that a bug or just the way it was at that time. Also I went straight to port Moresby with out any interference from the allies. My invasion force was never attacked even once.

Hi willycube; you are welcome.

Were you playing the "Historical" or Advanced Warning Scenario?" You are less likely to get a CAP reaction with the former. In either case, the CAP is quirky. From observation, I believe that CAP is really assigned to a base in the hex, and is more likely to intercept strikes against its home than other TG or bases in the hex. Also, after it lands the first time, it's a/c tend to get stuck and not take off again. This last point is discussed here: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1491093

It would be REALLY nice if the developer would post a list of known bugs and workarounds, BTW.

Yeah, I've won that game just by running the invasion force up to Moresby as well. The AI TGs dance around looking for an engagement with my carriers (which I've withdrawn). Just tinkering.

Again thank you Prince, played the historical Pearl, everything you say makes a lot of sense, so don't you ever leave the forums!

funny, last night it occured to me that the AI, which is touted as very tough, really doesn't exhibit any cleverness imo. It is merely a function of the combat results table being exceedingly bloody, and as such the AI can clean your clock if it gets in good strikes. This is not to say I can think of a way for the AI to be clever or tough, but I would appreciate it if it were more unpredictable, and (a) not have some TGs just dance around as you mention. Always happens in Midway, the Mikuma (or is it Mogami) force will just continue to hang around Midway until the bitter end letting you pummel them over and over (b) it would be nice if it were to get reckless some times. I whack 2 or 3 carriers in Midway, and the whole operation folds up tent and runs for Japan.

Usually by that point I have pretty much zero combat aircraft left so the Japanese AI could still pull off the invasion.

my $.02

I agree 100%. I seem to recall the in CCAW the Japanese Midway Surface Combat TF would sometime attempt to close your CV`s for a gun fight if you got too close to them at night.
