Wouldnt mind an indepth fantasy or post apocolyptic strategy game. The LOTR is too hot a franchise right now I guess for that to be taken but other authors like Terry brooks or even the current crop of fantasy books Like the Wheel of Time ? I think that is its name) might be had.

Actually, at some point there WAS a Wheel of Time game. I didn't play much of it...it was a strange First Person adventure kind of title...had some of the things from the books, but it all seemed pretty half assed and thrown together.

EFS is a great game but the AI was never designed to win![:(]

Strategy fantasy Games!

Dominions 3
Age of Wonders Shadow Magic (best of the bunch)
Masters of Magic
Age of Aragon (oldie but goodie)

I had to revise your list just a tad. ;)

I also believe it was "Sword of Aragon" instead of Age of Aragon...I could be mistaken, but, I'm usually not. ;)

Just out of curiosity, what do you think Heroes of Might and Magic?

Never liked it too much tbh...

Dominions 3. is good. Thousands of units, magic spells etc. However even in MP it looks like complicated at first but the truth is that most of the spells + units are totally useless in the game. Basically you will end up using the same units / tactics all the time, besides like Ive said I would prefer something hex based / strategical with a fantasy setting.

PS. Yes its Sword of Aragorn, not Age of Aragorn. [;)]

Remake of kings bounty:
http://int.games.1c.ru/kingsbounty/

Fantasy wars:
http://int.games.1c.ru/fantasy_wars/

Then there is dominions 4 or somthing coming out. It will have a modern graphics engine and looks very impressive. For som reason I cant find the link anymore.

This one is fairly fun and best of all free [:)] Battle for Wesnoth (D'oh! I see Matti already did this one)

Reference EFS cited earlier: It is better with Hyperion mod or Nova mod.

Surely not Dominions 4. Even if the devs would start to work on it, it would take many years to complete, since 2 devs are working in Illwinter. AFAIK there are no plans to make Doms 4. at the moment. I would be curious that what game were you thinking about btw, try to figure it out. [:D]

I got into a shouting match at the old Fallout site when I had the nerve to suggest a massive strategy game based on the fallout wrold. Envisioned the Brotherhood of Steel fighting wars with mutants and creatures across a devastated post nuclear landscape. The "Purists" there wished death upon my heretical life for daring to suggest a Fallout game that was anything but a simple roleplaying game.

I read in a magazine that the next Fallout is going to be real-time combat. That makes me sad.
