akcranker -> Question about Templates (7/11/2007 11:20:10 PM)

When you guy's build a template what all do you put in it to make a good template? What is considered a good template?

Since KG had mentioned that our locker reports was lacking a 90's team I decided I would make a 1989 template so I could take over the Oakland A's and take them from that championship year into the 90's.

What I'm wondering is what all should I put in to make this a complete template?

Facepacks
Correct stadiums for 89?

Anything else?

The 12000 Wright facepack I downloaded only has the St. Louis Mark McGwire face so I'm going to see if I can find a Oakland A's one and swap it out for him. Also I'll go through and adjust others that I can.

I picked 35 man rosters which like it has been discussed in other threads is not enough but 50 man rosters is too much.

Any suggestions on how to make this a worthy template for others to use please let me know.

Hmm... Generally, I just build associations for myself, and only make a template for it if I think it will have mass appeal. For example, many of my original leagues didn't use finances. I didn't think that would interest anyone so I kept them to myself. I guess the idea of a good template is to give other users a chance to get up and running quickly, without the hassle of ballparks, facepacks, etc. So I think you are on the right track already. Another thing to consider is ratings. I used 1-10 in my last template submission, but some folks may prefer 1-100. That's something you can't change once the Template is created.

In the end, just create something that would make *you* happy to play, then share it. I'm sure we'll like it!

Keep us updated in the Locker area. I'm an A's fan from way back in (gasp) 1969. My love of the A's gave me the idea to run a "No Free Agency" Assn. It sure was nice to keep those stars around a few years longer in the 70's and into the 80's.
