Rugens -> What Are The Chances ? (7/12/2007 12:26:50 AM)

Was curious ask if there is a chance the max number of units and formations may be increased in a future update?

Yeah, I for one would like to see the numbers at least doubled. FitE could surely use the higher numbers.

And while you're at it change the max size of maps to 1000x1000, I wanna make a 1km/hex map of South Vietnam [:D]

No, WWI East African Campaign at Company Scale.

For that the main problem isn't the size of the map or the number of units, but explaining how the company of irregular colonials in Umtushpishti can instantly react to a British offensive 800 miles away when they don't have access to any form of instant communications.

Or a regiment/division scale East Front scenario where both sides units can sub-divide.

Karri -> RE: What Are The Chances ? (7/14/2007 7:44:48 PM)

WW2 Europe at divisional scale, that would be the greatest scenario. Of course, map size needs to increase as well.

..Theatre Options to activate, % chance to happen, and then a % controlled time delay, % chance to happen, just like all pre-satellite-cell-phone/ pre-internet days..

..on the other hand, hill-top bonfires could notify the whole of England of the Spanish Armada in how many hours ????...

Carrier pigeons

Curtis Lemay -> RE: What Are The Chances ? (7/15/2007 11:19:57 PM)

I suppose one could impose an Aide-de-camp system by house rule. It would be a very complicated house rule, of course.

You mean modeled as a unit? [X(] It might be possible, but you'd still need some house rules around it.

Talking drums? (Seriously, they're not just Tarzan movies stereotypes).

Rounded, they are between .01 and 1, but the answer that is of most importance is whether it comes about in TOAW III, or TOAW IV.

And that one, I'm keeping under my hat for the moment...[;)]

Or sparrows--but then it would be a question of african or european sparrows--then it would become a matter of weight ratios.......................[:D][:D]

edit: That was a monty reference for those python challenged--in case anyone was wondering what the heck I was talking about.

Rugens -> RE: What Are The Chances ? (7/17/2007 5:30:46 PM)

Ok, I've got to ask. Is there an OAOW IV really in the future.

BTW, my original question was for not only greater than the 2,000 units but also greater than the 400 formations. I am trying to modify Stéphane's wonderful "Vietnam Combat Operations" (with his permission) to be a game covering the length of the war. There are a number of roadblocks but particularly the number of formations is difficult to work around because of the way OAOW III works.

..WE don't do sparrows, not when considering the communication time between Sussex and Yorkshire..

..and allowing for the synapse-gap lag-time of Southeners....

Since this thread has gotten WAAAAAY off topic, I gotta ask White Rabbit...

What's in Moro Gulf, SW of Mindanao (6N 128E)?

And hill-top bonfires apparently were able to notify all of New Zealand of the attack on Gondor!  Nice duty, that, sitting in the snow with a bonfire you dare not light...

I'm not quite sure how to react to that, so I'll take it in stride and laugh. [:D]
And say that my Geography is pretty good.

Reminds me of a 'very old' article in a SPI magazine : World War Two at 1:1 scale (board-game) "...Comes in three railroad box-cars, estimated playing time, 20 years..."
