Sorry for being a total half-wit, but can somebody explain to be the basics of how on-line leagues work?

Basically, a team owner would create a playbook for his team, send it to the commissioner, and the commissioner would then allow the games to play out CPU vs CPU using the team owners playbooks. Some leagues may use the quick sim option, but to allow the games to play out will give you a more realistic result. And by realistic, I mean for that particular league.

Welcome to the boards, and dont feel like a half-wit. Its a good question.

There are other ways to run online leagues, but since Max doesnt have a head2head mode, its probably going to be the most used.

Some leagues use general playbooks, but having individual team playbooks is more fun.

As Gary has stated, most online leagues are played out by the GM.

So does this game have preset playbooks for all the different kinds of game (Canadian, AMerican, Indoor)?

As of the most recent update, there are 3 playbooks, 1 for each type...8,11, and 12 man formations

There are lots of 11man plays on FBMAX, we(the PIFL)have our league playbook for 8 Man on our website, and its also on FBMAX.....cant really speak for 12 man CFL stuff, havent really played it all that much.

So there's really no way to play in real time head-to-head yet?  If not, is it being worked on by anyone, or is it a 3rd party add on yet?

Assuming you can't play head to head in real time; can you stream the game over the net live so the 2 coaches can watch it?  Also, are there coaching profiles so you can guide how your team plays (i.e. run vs pass percentage, substitutions at certain percenatage of tiredness, etc.)

I'm strongly considering this game, but want to research it really well before buying it.  I used to be really into front page sports: football pro and this game sounds fairly similar.  Is it, or am I way off?

TIA for any advice or responses!

Dave

This is a feature David wants to add in Maximum Football 3 (or whatever it will be called then). It will take quite a bit of new coding to do it, but it is on the feature list at this time.

Not at this time. If someone could create a program to capture the play by play output, perhaps a game play by play could be sent to the net. There is not yet a program to do that.

There are gameplans similar to coaching profiles in FBPro.

The gameplans do not have half distinctions or fatigue substitution settings at this time. There game does have fatigue, and players are substituted out.

It is similar, but it has 3D players, and leagues can be created for American, Canadian, indoor, or hybrid rules systems.

In many ways, Maximum Football is better than FBPro, and in some ways it is not. The biggest difference is that Maximum Football is still evolving while FBPro had reached a dead end almost a decade ago.

If you liked FBPro, I would recommend giving Maximum Football a good look. There is nothing else out there that is even close to the type of game that FBPro was.
