How robust is the scenario editor (given the upcoming fixes already mentioned here)? Can you change the composition of TFs? Can you add/subtract carriers (ie. remove Yorktown from or add Zuikaku to Midway)? Can you detail another section of the Pacific (ie. contrive a naval battle for Truk)? Just wondering what the mechanical limitations are of the editor. Thanks for any input!

The editor is unlimited in terms of what can be added.    Its the same tool SSG used to create the scenarios in the game so the sky's the limit on changes that can be made.

Adding new ships, aircraft, or maps requires a bit of effort but can be done in an unlimited way too.

Which, I assume, is detailed in the user guide?  Thanks for the prompt reply.  To tell you the truth I have been sitting on the fence about getting this game.  I never played the older version so I would be starting from scratch as it were - no preconceptions.  The overall reaction to the product on these forums is mixed but it seems SSG is interested in the input and willing to get a patch out soon.  I might go for it then.  BUT, the ability to create/alter new/existing scenarios would go a LONG way towardenhancing replayability IMO.

The editor section of the manual is pretty good. If you have a question beyond what you see in the editor you can post here or at the Run5 forums. There's likely someone who knows the answer.

The power of the DB/BF editors is absolutely key to the replayability/shelf life of those games (pretty much unlimited)... expect CAW editor to be just as useful.

Here's look at what the manual covers:

Thanks again JSS...the Table of Contents gives me some idea of all the steps involved.  I always enjoy tinkering with editors so it is a big factor as I lean toward purchasing the game after the initial patch.  I read elsewhere that there was an issue with the Forecast Editor(?) and the newly created scenario causing the game to crash.  Also, read that was being addressed in the patch.
