Rafael Warsaw -> Where TO GO? Aug 1942 (7/17/2007 3:40:30 PM)

Im Playing IJN.
Its AUG 1942

E Carriers: All sunk except 1 British and 1 USN.
IJN Carriers: 1 CV lost, 1 CVE lost

Forces at hand, concentrated, rested, fresh, very high exp, free to go (not engaged):

13 x INF DIVISIONS
14 x Engr Rgts
12 x Art Rgts

All of above maxed out.

PLUS

Every single Tank Rgts, Maxed out, High Exp, Rested.

All units are concentrated in 3 spots. Transports are aviable to shift them all in one lift. Concentrated too.

Question to the forum: where to go?
North OZ? India? Russia? Kiwi? Unfortunately PH (which still holds) is out of question as US have total Air domination over Hawaii.

I should have at least 3 more months of operational freedom (before USN CVs will arrive).

Hortlund -> RE: Where TO GO? Aug 1942 (7/17/2007 3:49:22 PM)

You need to clear out the NEI. Period.

Terminus -> RE: Where TO GO? Aug 1942 (7/17/2007 3:53:06 PM)

Yep. That's the biggest reason for Japan to go to war.

Rafael Warsaw -> RE: Where TO GO? Aug 1942 (7/17/2007 3:53:44 PM)

Only Timor Left. Weak 2 Bases. I am handling this one right now.

If i see good Burma is also in hes hands . Not very good for you since he allready have a lot of troops in India .

Rafael Warsaw -> RE: Where TO GO? Aug 1942 (7/17/2007 4:04:20 PM)

SORRY:

Heres NEI:

Are 13 Divs pllus all of above enough? Should I go through Birma or maybe I should mount an ivasion further north?

Milman -> RE: Where TO GO? Aug 1942 (7/17/2007 4:08:07 PM)

If you play against AI send 3 divisions to burma . Put other 10 divisions on transports and invade India .

Rafael Warsaw -> RE: Where TO GO? Aug 1942 (7/17/2007 5:19:22 PM)

THERE ARE 3 Divisions in Burma already.

These 13 mentioned earlier are my strategic reserve, resting, not engaged.

Its not vs AI. Its a PBEM, Big B 1.31

niceguy2005 -> RE: Where TO GO? Aug 1942 (7/17/2007 5:25:05 PM)

My first answer would be fight the fight that will be most fun for you.

My second would be (playing devils advocate a bit here) take NZ and South Pac. Without carriers to support operations the US couldn't hope to counter attack successfullly. You can completely isolate Oz and work on reducing supply through long range bombing. This could have the effect of essentially taking Oz out of the war.

Then you could think about taking India or finally beating China. With such overwhelming ground force and an over abundance of transports you could blitz the south pacific and have the entire region in no time.

Rafael Warsaw -> RE: Where TO GO? Aug 1942 (7/17/2007 5:32:11 PM)

OZ is isolated since months, not completly, true, but isolated. I keep christmas with plenty of subs and CVs hunting convoys for WC to OZ. Great time privateering actions! What a joy!

I really dont know, India rather than burma. North coast OZ rather than South Pac and Kiwi. I was able to reach a stale mate in china plus whole strategic reserve might not be enough to shift a stalemate into victory. I really dont know.

niceguy2005 -> RE: Where TO GO? Aug 1942 (7/17/2007 5:38:35 PM)

Well, India gets tough as the game progresses. Lots of Indian divisions and forts and malaria. Plus 4Es start arriving. If this is a game against the AI it might be doable, if it is a PBEM then I think its too late for India

Milman -> RE: Where TO GO? Aug 1942 (7/17/2007 5:52:34 PM)

Since this is PBEM than conquest only Burma , for India you will probably needed all your forces and a lot of time which you don't have since you will need to start to prepare for defense very soon .

I agree with niceguy . South pacific is best solution but recon bases very carefully before you invade .

Rafael, what is your general feel about A2A? Can you keep against 4E? Could you please post A2A losses table?

thanks.

Rafael Warsaw -> RE: Where TO GO? Aug 1942 (7/17/2007 7:27:43 PM)

I can not write it here.
but its OK.

I will send You a PM.

Helpless -> RE: Where TO GO? Aug 1942 (7/17/2007 7:38:35 PM)

hmm.. shouldn't the A2A losses info be available for both sides.. [;)]

Rafael Warsaw -> RE: Where TO GO? Aug 1942 (7/17/2007 8:33:43 PM)

It is but it can be missleading.
To both sides ie: I have lost lots of planes but not so many pilots (frames destroyed on the ground, pilots saved), another examples is operational loses ie several BGs USN BGs were sunk and are completly lost with pilots.

PM Sent.

Rafael Warsaw -> RE: Where TO GO? Aug 1942 (7/17/2007 9:05:22 PM)

Correct me If Im wrong - SO PAC which in this case will be a Nomunea plus Kiwi looks good but: OZ can be supply from India plus without PM taken I can not see an option for a long range bombing campaign vs OZ industrial centers. And trust me, PM is a very different issue in this game [:@]
In addition to this he may retake wake plus midway and go to Japan through Central Pac.

I dont know thats why Im asking [:)]

niceguy2005 -> RE: Where TO GO? Aug 1942 (7/17/2007 10:09:52 PM)

I have not looked at the BigB mod. What is Oz like? You can shutdown India resupply by taking Perth most of the time. Otherwise use CVs from the NEI to intercept convoys...use subs as pickets to spot the convoys. I don't know if you can absolutely kill supply in Oz, but you can make it a real struggle for him, plus what's more important is you can make the bases in eastern Oz very dangerous place...means nowhere for him to base CVs from

If you don't like SouthPac there is always Burma, which is a good buffer zone with India...the more I think about this the more I think it is important. If you don't take the airfields in Burma 4Es can threaten resources througout SE Asia.

As I write this I am more and more concerned about PM and PNG. If allowed to be supplied and reinforced it is a point from which to launch attacks that could cuttoff troops in the Solomons.

I think if it were me I would go for Burma and Noumea, Burma for the buffer zone and Noumea to cut off resupply of eastern oz and PM.
