sirduke_slith -> Possible bug (7/18/2007 9:59:52 PM)

While playing the union i had two large armies and 1 moderate sized army in Virginia The rebel army attacked me at petersburg and they suffered around 3500 casualties and i suffered 0 I thought this was weird and when my turn came, my army had disappeared entirely i checked the surrnding army groups and they weren't there, this seems to be a serious bug to me am i wrong?

Do you have save-game or autosave files from just before or just after?

Does the army show up on the Military Screen, or the Overview map?

I have a saved game before it happened, should i reload and see if it happens again? it doesnt show up on the overview map or the miitary screen

You definitely should, but also be sure to hold on to those files in case Eric needs them.

Yes, I think it would be nice to put a sticky up for everyone to read that states please save your files if you enounter something strange. I had the same problem and didn't save them :( FoF 1 Me 0 [;)]

Did the CSA just retreat at Petersburg, or was there actual shooting in the battle?

Are you playing with compact stacks turn off?

sirduke_slith -> RE: Possible bug (7/19/2007 1:17:35 AM)

they did not retreat from petersburg, it said they were victorious and only my generals were left in place of the entire army.  I am unsure what compact stacks are, sorry! i did instant combat but it said the confederates lost 3500 causualities and union 0.  I wont have contact with the saved files for a couple of days, i might be able to send them to you later in the week.

Done. Good suggestion.

The 3500 / 0 casualties probably just means that one side ran away from battle and took some losses in the course of their retreat.  If they had no locations to which to perform a valid retreat, then their units were likely destroyed.

I forgot to mention that i did try and load it up again and although it took another turn for the rebel army to attack it still happened. i will send eric the files when i can and see if he can find something wrong with it.
