Marshall Ellis -> Early August update! (7/23/2007 6:53:24 PM)

Hey guys:

Just an FYI since we DO have some different news to report!
We are beginning to put the dress pants on the game!

The manual is almost complete!
I am awaiting final music.
I am awaiting one last BMP file from the graphics team.

When these things happen then we can produce a Golden Image within a week (+/- week). This doesn't mean that it will be released in a week or two since there is a lot that Matrix has to do to get this thing dressed up for release (Boxes, manual, CDs, etc) but MAYBE I won't be the delay any longer.

I hope that my next post will be even better news GIVEN no surprises happen!

Thank you

Mardonius -> RE: Early August update! (7/23/2007 8:02:09 PM)

Well done Marshall! Looking forward to the final product!

yammahoper -> RE: Early August update! (7/24/2007 3:53:25 AM)

HUGE sigh of relief.  Great.  Sounds like this year, even 6 to 8 weeks perhaps if the Gawds smile.  I bet the end of the tunnel looks VERY sweet indeed Marshall.

Berkut -> RE: Early August update! (7/24/2007 7:09:52 AM)

Will this game support multiple screen resolutions?

Seems like a stupid question, but apparently it is not really something one should just assume.

eg0master -> RE: Early August update! (7/24/2007 11:45:59 AM)

I guess christmas came early this year! [;)]

Marshall Ellis -> RE: Early August update! (7/24/2007 3:35:35 PM)

Bekrut:

The game will take control of your graphics card and set it to 1024 X 768 so the answer to your question I think is no??? It shouldn't matter what your resolution is when you run the game and when you exit the game it should restore your settings to what they were when you started.

Thank you

carnifex -> RE: Early August update! (7/24/2007 5:17:18 PM)

Marshall, here is the remaining BMP graphic.

YohanTM2 -> RE: Early August update! (7/26/2007 2:02:24 PM)

LOL Jean,

I joined these forums over 4 years ago on the news they were doing EiA and am now at about 800 posts.

At least my brother will finally get his Christmas present from 2002.

It's good to know that this game will be available soon.

But...but...fixed resolution for a 2007 software? and 1024x768 when the default hardware (LCD screens) in the last few years can handle 1280x1024 or more and looks awful when they have to handle anything other than his native resolution? and about aspect ratio? 16x9 and 16x10 monitors are too common now to ignore and will be the norm in the near future.

Oh well, I'm waiting for this game for too long to let this detail keep me away from it, but I have to steam this out, I really hate to have to look at stretched out bitmaps on my screen because the game has a fixed resolution, and apparently don't even have a "windowed mode" as a useful compromise.

Ohh, the 1772-variant, with the very young Bonaparte as a 5-5-1-E leader. Cool.

Great news, Marshall!!

Kaeler = you have to remember this started prior to 2003. I think at the time it was a key decison but perhaps it will change as I wait patiently with my 24" 16x9 monitor!

IrishGuards -> RE: Early August update! (7/27/2007 3:29:57 AM)

Finally a christmas present .. Thx brethren

Great news! Can't wait for those 7xplayer PBEM games to begin!

borner -> RE: Early August update! (7/29/2007 8:42:46 PM)

Sounds very promising. I played the game for years, but moved and have not found a group nearby. It will if this will be out this year. I may need unlimited long distance calling for the diplomacy sessions though[X(]

yammahoper -> RE: Early August update! (7/29/2007 9:45:51 PM)

I cleaned out my foot locker today, and at the bottom was my still unused back up copy of EiA I had bought in case I needed new counters, sheets, etc. The box was in poor condition, but it was all there. Made me wish I had the time to set up weekly game.

I am very eager to take on all 6 nations without any idea who I can expect as an ally (with friends, ya have an idea what they will do, or can talk about it even before and between sessions). Hope its a challenge.

yamma

timewalker03 -> RE: Early August update! (7/30/2007 5:37:03 PM)

Just one question. Will the game be able for Download right away for those who will buy as soon as the game is released?

YohanTM2 -> RE: Early August update! (8/1/2007 4:28:20 AM)

I am 100% sure it will be, I think all their games are now.

Aspect ratio notwithstanding, this isn't good for LCDs that don't use 1024x768 as their native resolution (which is most). Will the game at least have an option of running in a window mode?

Resolution aside, the game looks good.

tmssteve -> RE: Early August update! (8/3/2007 10:20:07 PM)

I've checked this forum often since the announcement of this game, lo those many years ago. I remember getting the issue of The General that featured the boardgame. I have always wanted to play it and cannot wait for the PC version. If they would have pre-sold it, I would have paid. This is my first ever Matrix post and I am thrilled that the hour of EIA appearing in electronic form is finally upon us.[sm=character0229.gif]

I don't know what that particular smiley is for, but it demonstrates my level of anticipation.

Madcombinepilot -> RE: Early August update! (8/10/2007 6:22:31 AM)

I havn't been around for a while (couple years), but I originally came here for one reason, and to see that reason close to happening.....

Thanks for the hard work....

Joisey -> RE: Early August update! (8/13/2007 9:47:51 PM)

Would very much like to see some new screen shots.  Glad to hear progress is being made.

Okay . . .

1. Spain gets impatient and declares war on Naples during the June Diplomacy Phase (France gains control). Their plan is to send the Guard corps with Castanos from Valencia to Naples during the June Naval Phase.

Monadman -> RE: Early August update! (8/15/2007 12:00:29 AM)

2. The Guard corps and Castanos load onto the I Heavy fleet during the June Naval Phase. Note: by double clicking the loaded fleet (red dot indicates that the fleet is loaded), Spain can see which forces are aboard. Also note: the white-border areas indicate where the fleet can move to during the current naval phase (ports and sea areas).

3. The Spanish Fleet moves to the coast of Naples
