what if anything triggers the chinese ground troops? can't find anything in manual to this effect? Do you have to actually invade a chinese province and if so does this trigger their use. As it stands now, only 5 ground units can be used along with all their HQs. How do you get the others to move?

All of the chinese LCU can be "used". But not all of them can be moved. [:D] This is done intentionally with one of the patches in order to simulate defensive nature of chinese "army" at that time.

If static warlords are destroyed then unit is free to move until it got replaced.

so then the Jap player can invade anywhere in China without triggering the Chinese units. If the units can't move except for HQs and the 5, then the jap player can take about any city with troops without worrying about the chinese moving and attacking. Is this right ??? Doesn't sound fair for the chinese player... but ...whatever..

Once IJA gets inland, those Chinese units can prove to be very sturdy... there is only so far you can get avoiding cities with warlords in them. And once you manage to kill off even one, player can divide that unit - and you just got another free-moving Chinese regiment to deal with...
