I have tried downloading the US version, twice, but each time when I tried to unzip the file, I was told it was corrupted or the wrong type.

Are other people having the same problem or am I doing something wrong?

The file in the store is fine, so something must be corrupting it during the transfer.

I'd suggest trying a download manager, such as www.stardownloader.com. Clear your internet cache, reboot and re-download using the download manager after turning off all security apps that might be trying to do things to the file once it saves as well. See if that helps.
