el cid again -> RHS Ship Art Notice (7/27/2007 7:20:51 PM)

The revised "standard RHS ship art" set has problems - at least with Allied ship art.

The previous art set - available on the RHS web site - works fine with present and future bitmap pointers.

You can find this under

a) RHS Files and Scenarios
b) Rhs Basic Install Files
c) RHS EOS Ship Set

[Do not let the EOS name fool you - there is only ONE ship art file for all RHS scenarios]

We will have a new standard RHS ship art package in "5-6 days" - and it will use the same pointers - and it can be installed and used by games in progress.

Non-ship art note: we may revise Allied plane filmstrips re the TBF Avenger night fighter. If we do it will require a microupdate to the aircraft file and will only apply to new games. Changing the filmstrip won't hurt a game in progress, but you will only see the old TBF art. It isn't yet clear this is needed? It may be the plane looks the same.

It may be known, if not, the ship art pack is still not completely in synch, (on the RHS download site, (as of present.)

FWIW the one labelled "standardized ship art" is at present the best, even though some of the Allied AK/TK views are confused, some tankers look like liners,etc...

I have the opposite view. The one labeled standard art has Colorado masquarading as a South Dakota - in four different upgrades! And many subs as AKs - US and USSR. So I think the previous one is better - and know of no issues.

However, the whole standard art package will be redone - and synced with the previous one. IF there is a problem with that - specify exactly what - and it can be fixed as well.

I have asked the RHS team if there is any better set than is now posted? If so, we will post it. When our standard art person returns from Holliday, he will review the standard art - and it will post in due course.
