ORIGINAL: PadresFan104 Wow... good question. I say that if a user wants to create an alternate history starting with a certain year of players, then they should set the year of the assn. to that import year. However, if they want to start an assn. with players from a certain year, but have it begin any other year than that seed year, that fictional players should be generated in subsequent years. Gives us two ways to play... Overnight I came to a conclusion on this... there are two ways to have fictional players generated season after season in any year you wish in the game that both work well. SandBox mode and also if you do a PS Classic and don't seed the association you won't see any difference than the way it is today. So my opinion is that if I seed my association with the year 1900 but I want to start in 2000 it would be great to have the rookies import based on a start year of 1900 but the association and statistical progression based on play in this modern era. Kind of like there would be two "season years" one for the association and one for the player pool. I think that ideally the user would have either option. If we could choose at the pre-draft stage to either generate fictional players or import real players and then generate filler players to round out the pool that would solve both issues. The issue with setting the year of the sim to that import year is that the statistical results trend toward the year of the association. The xml doesn't seem, at least to me, to affect the results enough to "modernize" an old season year of players. This is a compromise solution to being able to really sway the results through the xml.
