Dave Ferguson -> Persian Gulf (8/15/2007 4:01:48 PM)

Having just managed to lose Egypt as the allies in PBEM match my thoughts turned to Iraq and Persia.
There is no way of reinforcing those countries if the axis try to grab the gulf area although historically forces were moved via the Persian Gulf.
Perhaps what the game needs is a few hexes to simulate the head of the gulf and a port/city. however there is no way of getting troops there as you need a transfer loop. You could mod the map to have a line of sea hexes fom the Red Sea but it looks bad and anyway you need a way of sending units direct from the Atlantic.
Was representing the Gulf considered during game development and if rejected why?

Good point.

Once you get the Suez the oil falls very easily, although it does take you a while to walk there.

Russia can redeploy units with strat move after they are in the war ..

Only once Persia is in the war, and assuming the Sov's have any units to spare themselves......

Historically the western allies had the ability to move units to Iraq/Persia via the Gulf and did so in 1941 so it would be nice to be able to do so in the game. Of course you could not do this until the country was DOWed.
Iraq has a majoe capital city so you can move strategically once dowed.
