Well I have a bona-fide vanisher.

Between Late Dec 1861 and Early Jan 1862
My garrison of Norfolk vanished.

It was called '6th New York Wilson's Zouves'

NOT a militia unit. and when I said vanished I mean it is GONE. No fights, no attrition no nothing.
The unit that was with it, was a medical unit that for some reason the computer decided to build there.

So then, what does this mean?

The only time I've had a unit vanish was due to a lack of supply (food, not the ammo) for a several turns. How much sea transport do you have, and do you have control of the nearby sea zones so supply can get there?

Yes easily. Supply was not a problem. The unit was at full strth 1001 and simply vanished.

I checked all my fleets to make sure it had not piggy-backed away.

I assume it is a faulty unit dissolution routine for the end of year maint.
Or at least I hope that is what it was.

Weird.....I had Butler with his starting units in the area right next to Richmond. There were just some small units guarding the city. During the combat and movement there was no battle so I thought that he just did not move.
The next turn there was Butler sitting in Richmond with the Reb units and no units with Butler.....they were just gone. It might have been that they were destroyed but there was no battle graphic on nte about the battle. I never did figure that out :-)

Well I have the saved game turn from Dec 1861 and it is a replicatible event.
If anyone can suggest who to send the turn to.

Jagger2002 -> RE: Disappearing Units (8/21/2007 9:07:33 AM)

Send it to support@ageod.com.    A couple of times, I have wondered what happened to some units.

AGeod is very good about fixing bugs quickly if you provide the saved games.

heroes99 -> RE: Disappearing Units (8/21/2007 1:54:37 PM)

Does the unit listed in the ledger force listing ?

Erik Rutins -> RE: Disappearing Units (8/21/2007 3:32:28 PM)

Who was in command of those vanished units?

No one. I commonly simply dump a solo brigade unit in a captured port because.....

If the AI attacks, I have not lost much. If the AI ignores it, it hasnt cost me much.

The ORIGINAL commander for the invasion was Hooker, but I detached the Zouves and sent Hooker south
to Moorhead City.

The weird part is that the computer insisted on building a Union Medical Facilty at the captured port.

Nope, ot is NO where on any list, and yet in the saved game file, there it is.

What?

Send me the saved game, tell me where it happened and who disapeared. I need either the whole game, or the turn before and after this event. Thanks.

Wilco Tonight, short on time right now, I apologize.

Sardonic -> RE: Disappearing Units (8/23/2007 7:34:09 AM)

The turn file has been sent to support.

Good Luck.

heroes99 -> RE: Disappearing Units (8/23/2007 9:01:24 AM)

good , keep us update on this though  I have not encounter this yet

Sardonic -> RE: Disappearing Units (8/23/2007 3:21:29 PM)

Seems like it is an isolated error restricted to the way I make my moves.
I have encountered many video errors in my turn processing (Raedon 8500)
It is an old card and may need new drivers.

In any case, the unit is question is parsed as non-existant and deleted.
POCUS explained to me how to get the unit back and all is well.
