serg3d -> Looking for tactical advices (8/25/2007 4:50:00 PM)

I'd started to play DGC EF Barbarossa, russian side, battalion level. Being long time Steel Panther player I presumptuously started on the medium level. AI wiped floor with me, several times. I'm switching to easy now and looking for advice.
How am I supposed to defend with battalion of T-26, three units of 85mm guns and battalion of rifles against more than regiment of german armor, Pz 38(t), PZIII, PZIV , StugIII and regiment of infantry ? Whatever I'm trying, whenever I'm placing my three 85mm guns german panzers just overflow my defense. Should I try reverse slopes and sacrifice 85mm range? With 3 guns I can't build defence in depth, and T-26s just don't hold against panzers. Ok, enough rant for now, I'll try to learn the ropes on the easy level.

I enjoyed your post.

I tried giving tactical advice once before.  See the "Gunfight at Flavion" thread.  I think we both need advice -- or more experience.

If it were easy, it would not be any fun.  Good luck.

Are you Russian, Ukranian, Georgian, Latvian, Estonian?  Canadian?

Joking aside, doesn't Toronto have a highly prominent Ukranian community?

key here is dont try to face them. enemy forces will push towards objectives so your best option is to pace the 85mm guns at extreme ranges and try to disrupt them near small pockets of infantry then assault the remnants.

t26s are best used enmasse park them behind a forest where you know the german tanks will pass and try to get that elusive rear shot. Keep your armor together dont spread em out. if you can destroy the enemy in one area you can then move the armor to another combat zone.

use your infantry to draw off the enemies opfire and turn their tanks away from yours and the armor facing will buy you the victory you so crave.

AND NEVER play Mitch.

Hi guys.

There is a penalty if you stack more than 13 points/units in one hex.

Shoot & scoot. They can not kill what they can not see. Live to fight another day!

Disrupt the units then block his exit hex & assault. Remember to disrupt them or your assault will likely loose.

Just remember that in the opening stages of Barbarossa the Germans walked over Ivan.

Try playing by Email against a human. That is the best!

Good luck.

Don't forget to set your opfire for your at guns and tanks you don't want them firing at infantry and giving away their positions.
