I have a couple of units marching from Sidney in direction of the northern coast of Australia since Dec. 7th 1941.
Now, it's Aprile, 27th 1942. In the unit info box, I can read that the units have marched for 3'570 miles. The trip was of 2'400 miles. What happened? Why they are still marching?

In general I suggest you avoid giving movement orders with distances larger than 600 miles.

BTW, you didn't say if the units are were they should be. Is this just a display error in the unit info box, or do the units refuse to march?

When marching LCU's overland you should move from nearest base to nearest base.

The routine for figuring a route can get confused over long distances.

lol, you should have reset them to defend and march again ehhh.... 4 months ago! [;)] Havenīt you never noticed they didnīt move out of the hex?

I had this problem, too.
One Unit got to 600 - and then it moved (but don't ask me whether it "jumped" or just moved to the next hex - as I didn't observe it. The other unit also marched a long distance around the barracks but didn't find the exit [:D]

I gave the order and I was sure they marched till the target...

I have issued orders for troops to march from Melbourne to Darwin and they did the movement just fine (much to Chez' chagrin!).

I think that the game rule is that troops cannot march where a supply route cannot be traced, so you are probably exceeding this distance. While I don't think that you need to choose every interim base as a waypoint, you may want to choose one or two interim destinations to make sure that your troops move...

I have this problem with the 3 chinese units blocking the north china road in chs. they are not set to static yet i can't get them to move.

Your LCUs are in a contested hex? If so, you have to give them a friendly base as destination, otherwise they won't move.

there are no enemy units in the hex with my units

As indicated, you should generally march from base to base.  You can set a objective hex to whatever you want without a problem.  But march orders, move from base to base.  Somebody said no more than 600 miles, that's safe.  I'll say I haven't had an issue with keeping that number uner 1000 miles.  But over 1000 miles, I've seen problems.

And if you ever do stumble across a unit that has over 60 miles, maybe give it one more turn (I actually have seen it go from like 62 miles, and then move), but if it doesn't go on the second turn, switch the destination hex.  And yes, you've just "lost" that time/miles, it just sucks.  You have reset the orders to something closer.

I always march my troops from Adelaide to Darwin, no problems. But if I try to march from Charters Towers to Portland Roads they seem to "Hang Up" Usually solved by telling them to go to Cairns, then another order to go to Portland Roads.

Come to think on it, it's probably is having trouble if the supply link is stretched.  The example with Portland Rodes, those are just trails.  It -might- be seeing if you can trace supply all the way from Cooktown to Portland Rodes (along that trail, possibly ignoring that town in the middle).  That would not be a supply link, the trails are too long (if it's *ignoring* the town in the middle).

I wonder if that's it...  It's trying to calculate a supply link between current hex and destination, ignoring cities along the way.  That would explain a lot.
