RocketMan -> Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/2/2007 8:12:11 PM)

After I hit "end turn" the AI does the convoy phase, British turn, Russian turn, American turn and then the game hangs. All I see is the hourglass, which I can move around, but can't scroll or do anything else. I have use task manager to kill the process "commander.exe" to end the game. I have tried running the turn a couple of times and the same thing happens every time.

I have the save game file I can send, but I was hoping these is a way to fix this short of waiting for a patch.

IainMcNeil -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/2/2007 11:10:25 PM)

Have you applied the hotfix? This shoudl fix the problem.

RocketMan -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/3/2007 1:19:38 AM)

I have applied all the patches and I just downloaded and installed the 1.02 hotfix version gain.

The problem is still there.

RocketMan -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/3/2007 1:43:42 AM)

I uninstalled the game and then reinstalled, then applied the 1.02 patch and then the 1.02 hotfix and it did not solve the problem.

Ok, sorry you are still having problems. Can you mail us a saved game where it occurs and the error.txt file it generates when this happens to info@slitherine.co.uk and we'll check it out.

File sent, although I didn't have error.txt I only had error.log.

IainMcNeil -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/4/2007 12:24:17 PM)

That's the one - my mistake.

RocketMan -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/5/2007 1:19:41 AM)

Did you get my email with the error.log and save game files and if so, can you duplicate the problem on your end?

IainMcNeil -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/5/2007 11:36:30 AM)

I've passed it over to Johan and he should get back to you soon.

bcdane -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/15/2007 12:19:49 AM)

I had the same problem yesterday.  The game hangs after the Allies shore bombard a unit in Cherbourg.  Tried re-installing, re-booting, crossed fingers, incantations... nothing helps.  I've already e-mailed to the game file to Iain.  I'm interested in finding out if this can be fixed.

dlong -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/15/2007 4:49:09 AM)

I have the same problem.   Just purchased the game few weeks ago.  Have spent many hours into a scenario, and now the AI hangs the same place each time with the same ship.  Have gone from beginning to 1942 before this hang.  Tried the hotfix patch..........nothing.  I also tried making a few more moves, thinking the AI might do something different.

Please help here, as I have spent a lot of time on the said game, for it to just stop now.  I can send the file to someone if I knew who and where.  At this point, I would be "afraid" to spend any more time to play this game considering the investment of time and then have this happen.  I need a work around.

Thanks

RocketMan -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/15/2007 7:01:04 AM)

Is this problem fixed in the 1.03 patch?

firepowerjohan -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/15/2007 1:09:35 PM)

Yes it is fixed in the news 1.03 beta patch, but you can unfortunately not load old saves with the new version.

dlong -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/16/2007 1:26:08 AM)

Johan, does that mean we must just quit the game we are in the middle of?   No way of skirting this issue to finish?

firepowerjohan -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/16/2007 12:26:33 PM)

Yes, you need to start new games with the new version.

firepowerjohan -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/18/2007 3:15:34 PM)

I suggest you run the 1.03 beta patch since that bug should be gone from that version, else you can wait for the official patch but that might take a while unfortunately.

So I bought a broken game and have to wait until you release the 1.03 patch before I can play it.

Just great.

dlong -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/19/2007 5:34:27 AM)

Not only that, I'm running windows XP.  Loaded the new beta 1.03 and now I can't get past the initial screen.  Hit play........nothing.

So 1.02 dosen't work for me (AI hangs after hours into a game) and now 1.03 in totally dead.

firepowerjohan -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/19/2007 11:24:56 AM)

Send me a mail and I will mail back a fix that will work with your 1.02 version

firepowerjohan@gmail.com

IainMcNeil -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/19/2007 12:09:09 PM)

There seems to be a problem with the Matrix installer for the beta patch. I've asked them to investigate it.

The AI problem is very rare and the vast majority of people have never seen it, so the game is not "broken", but did have a couple of bugs, which we have fixed.

My initial post on this topic stated that:

I was hoping these is a way to fix this short of waiting for a patch.

And the answer came back that not only do I have to wait for the next patch, but I have to restart the game from scratch when the patch is finally released.

To me that is a broken game. To you it is a bug. It is a matter of perception.

I will leave it to anybody who is looking to buy this game to draw their own conclusions.

firepowerjohan -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/19/2007 11:01:20 PM)

I repeat,
Send me a mail and I will mail back a fix that will work with your 1.02 version

firepowerjohan@gmail.com

For reasons, we do not want to release too many hotfixes but instead I promise to fix this problem manually instead.

Since your initial offer was in response to dlong's post I figured you were talking about fixing his problem with the 1.03 Beta patch.

With the miscommunication out of the way, I thank you for your generous offer and will be sending you an email shortly.

RocketMan -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/20/2007 12:49:21 AM)

firepowerjohan - I got your email with the updated files and they worked great.

Thank you for the excellent customer service.

IainMcNeil -> RE: Game hangs during AI turn resolution (9/20/2007 12:07:58 PM)

If one in a thousand people has the specific problem then the game is not broken, it is a rare bug that does not effect the vast majority. For the person it happens to it is annoying, but we have very quickly resolved the problem. Sending out fixes to individual players is a nightmare to manage for any size team, let alone one as small as this.

It is impossible to catch every possible situation in a game as complex as this and so there will be bugs that have to be fixed, but so far there are very few compared to other games.

All we're asking for is a little bit of patience :)
