wonderful turn! [:D] AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 03/28/43 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Night Air attack on Lashio , at 35,30 Allied aircraft Beaufighter VIF x 17 No Allied losses Aircraft Attacking: 7 x Beaufighter VIF bombing at 2000 feet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Night Time Surface Combat, near Koepang at 28,77 [8D] Japanese aircraft no flights Japanese aircraft losses E7K2 Alf: 1 destroyed Japanese Ships ML Tsugaru, Shell hits 19, and is sunk ML Okinoshima, Shell hits 1, on fire ML Ikitsushima PG Chokai Maru, Shell hits 11, Torpedo hits 3, and is sunk ML Katsuriki ML Yaeyama, Shell hits 1, on fire ML Kamome, Shell hits 11, and is sunk ML Shirakami, Shell hits 11, and is sunk ML Naryu, Shell hits 5, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk ML Kyosai, Shell hits 3, on fire, heavy damage ML Ishizaki ML Takashima ML Saishu ML Aotaka, Shell hits 9, and is sunk ML Wakatake Allied Ships BB Arizona BB Idaho, Shell hits 1 CA Shropshire DD Monssen DD Benham DD Ellet DD Dunlap DD Conyngham DD Balch DD Clark Today we won the Jackpot! By pure luck (YES IT ONLY WAS LUCK ON OUR SIDE!!! [sm=cool0013.gif]) a bombardment TF entered the hex the same night as the Japanese ML TF which was hit hard! We sank several of the big MLs including ML Tsugaru which has a mine capacity of no less than 600 mines! 21 enemy MLs have been confirmed sunk so far, not bad, speaking of mine laying capacity, the enemy has lost over 50% of his capacity already. The TF wasnīt spotted during the day, this could have triggered airattacks by over 100 bombers. I wonīt complain! [;)] Another example of how careless Hortlund is with his ships: ML Hirashima which hit a VH2 at Kendari a couple of days ago was reported sunk today! It sank OFF AMBOINA! So what? The ML hits a mine at Kendari, where it could be disbanded in port immediately and then it sinks off Amboina. Well, I even care about MSW, small AKs, in fact I care about every ship in my arsenal that can be saved (and Iīm the Allied with ten times more ships than the IJN). Heck, I even try to save ships that obviously canīt be saved. Hortlund is of other oppinion! It seems not worth for him to bring damaged ships to the next port where they can be disbanded. I guess this did cost him at least 100 ships of all different types so far. Albacore is on her way to here homeport (Darwin). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sub attack at 48,59 Japanese Ships AP Kasuga Maru #2, Torpedo hits 1, on fire Allied Ships SS Haddock Haddock is also retiring home and hits a small AP South East of the Philipines. Those attacks on transit are just luck when a sub stumbles over an enemy convoy, so thatīs not an achievement of mine. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sub attack at 48,59 Japanese Ships AP Kasuga Maru #2, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage Allied Ships SS Haddock Haddock expands her last torps with another attack on the damaged AP and sinks it. The captain, a US FLT went down with the ship! [:D] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on Andaman Island , at 23,34 Japanese aircraft no flights Allied aircraft F-5A Lightning x 3 LB-30 Liberator x 39 Japanese aircraft losses Ki-44-IIb Tojo: 5 destroyed E13A1 Jake: 2 destroyed A6M2 Zero: 1 destroyed Japanese ground losses: 13 casualties reported Airbase hits 6 Airbase supply hits 1 Runway hits 19 Aircraft Attacking: 24 x LB-30 Liberator bombing at 15000 feet attack on medium height and we encountered no flak fire. Looks like the bombardment hit the base forces really hard. Low hit rate but still we destroyed over a dozen aircraft on the ground. If we can further reduce the attack height then it will surely be possible to supress Andaman. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on Gili Gili , at 56,94 Japanese aircraft no flights Allied aircraft F-5A Lightning x 4 B-24D Liberator x 137 Japanese aircraft losses H8K Emily: 1 destroyed Japanese ground losses: 93 casualties reported Guns lost 1 Airbase hits 7 Airbase supply hits 4 Runway hits 64 Aircraft Attacking: 39 x B-24D Liberator bombing at 26000 feet this attack came from Cooktown (normal range, compared to Cairns extended range) and we achieve a pretty good hit rate at save height. One B-24 was lost to ops but over 30 are damaged after such an attack. If you want to attack with full strenght you canīt do more than one attack a week. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on Kiska Island , at 92,35 Allied aircraft F4F-3 Wildcat x 37 SBD Dauntless x 40 TBF Avenger x 14 P-39D Airacobra x 17 PV-1 Ventura x 27 Allied aircraft losses SBD Dauntless: 1 destroyed, 13 damaged P-39D Airacobra: 2 destroyed, 2 damaged PV-1 Ventura: 6 damaged Japanese ground losses: 120 casualties reported Guns lost 3 Airbase hits 2 Airbase supply hits 1 Runway hits 51 Port supply hits 2 Aircraft Attacking: 8 x SBD Dauntless bombing at 2000 feet no matter how many hits we achieve, no matter how many casualties inflict, no matter how many guns we disable, not even 30.000 bomber attacks can silence flak guns in NM. Those attacks are cancelled now after losing way over 100 aircraft for nothing in return.
