Rover -> 4.0 Upgrade Load Problem (9/11/2000 4:18:00 AM)

Currently have 2.3 on the "D" partition of my hard drive. Downloaded the appropriate patch to get to 4.0 (got the downlead complete message). When I try to run the upgrade, it gets through the .wav part about 25% of the way through and then tells me to insert Disk #2. I inserted SPII as that's the only disk #2 I could think of. Didn't help as it says it can't find the following file on the disk- D:\MATRIXGAMES\STEELPANTHERSWORLDATWAR\SPWAWV4UPGRADE.2 Any suggestions how I should resolve this? Did I miss something real easy? Thanks...

The "insert disk #2" bug means you have a corrupted file.

I have everything going back to 1.0. How should I resolve this?

Is the download the proper size?

Paul Vebber -> (9/11/2000 6:24:00 AM)

Unfortunately, you'll probably have to download the file again.

I think it is the 4.0 download that's the issue, it's only 40MB big and it should be much larger... thanks to both of you...

Sorry to keep bugging everyone on this one but I did the download again and it finished a little smaller than 143MB (high 130'MB's). As a sanity check will the upgrade work if you're missing any of the files from the end of the download? What is the last file that will be updated so if watching I know everything that was supposed to be there actually made it? Thanks again...

Rover, I hate to hit you with reality, but you'll probably never succeed in your download without a "pick up where I left off" feature of a download manager, such as GetRight. All the gamers who keep repeating failed downloads are probably overloading the server. BTW, if you don't have a CD burner and you want to share the ver 4.0 files with a friend - you can PKZIP it to a couple (or 4) Iomega Zip disks. Use the "disk Spanning" choice and ignore the CRC error when you unzip it. copy the temp file to another directory, then hit OK on the CRC screen. Tommy
