epaminondas -> D.H. Anderson (10/6/2007 6:13:49 PM)

I think I might have stumbled across a minor error in the Commanders List.

Gen797 is listed as Confederate General D.H. Anderson. As far as I know there was no such person, and the portrait is of Robert Herron Anderson - present elsewhere in the list. I doubt that this is specific to the current update, but since there is a patch in the works it's an opportunity to pick up small discepencies such as this.

With minimum effort the entry could be changed to C.D. Anderson, a general of the Georgia Militia. Or it could be used for someone more noteworthy - "Jeff" Thompson, maybe.

Good catch.  There were a few other guys with the same last name whose portraits were swapped around that we caught before the game was released, but I guess none of us caught this one.  Thanks!

Oh, THAT explains why I had to add the second R.H. Anderson to the file (Gen1003). The more famous Richard Heron Anderson is one of our 25-percenters, and is Gen798. The other Anderson -- by the way, he's a Houston, not a Heron (see here: http://www.historycentral.com/Bio/CWcGENS/CSAAndersonRobertHouston.html) -- was an ordinary brigadier general who temporarily had divisional command at one point.

Thanks to the bios project, we eventually would have figured out that there was no D.H. Anderson, but this might not have happened for quite some time. So, thank you for pointing this out.

Eric, since we already have both Andersons, what do we do with D.H. Anderson? Can his row in the commanders.txt file be deleted, or will the code freak out when it finds Gen797 is missing? Should we just keep D.H. Anderson, but give him a 0% chance of appearing in the game, or might that freak out the code?

Yep. And a Robert not a Richard.

I just put in a new name, values, and pic and it all seemed to run okay.

Just remember that whatever you did might get undone by this or a future patch.

What I might do is the following. Right now, the last general in the game is #1014, and I was going to be adding everyone's favorite brevet brigadier general, Prinz Felix Constantin Alexander Johann Nepomuk Salm-Salm, as #1015. Since I'm almost done with his bio, I can always have him replace "D.H. Anderson."

Sounds damn good to me. Huzzar!

epaminondas -> RE: D.H. Anderson (11/18/2007 12:00:36 PM)

Small thing - very small, not worth starting a new thread over - but I think you have the pics of Louis Hebert and Paul Octave Hebert reversed,

Gil R. -> RE: D.H. Anderson (11/18/2007 7:05:22 PM)

Thanks for the report. But I'm not sure what makes you think they're reversed. Is it their ratings?

epaminondas -> RE: D.H. Anderson (11/19/2007 11:18:18 PM)

No, it's the actual pics themselves.  They're the reverse of the images I have in my sources. A quick Google image check confirms that pic531 is actually an image of P.O. Hebert and pic532 is one of Louis Hebert.

Gil R. -> RE: D.H. Anderson (11/20/2007 12:28:07 AM)

Oh, I see. Good catch. I'll change this in a future patch (not this current one).
