Alex Fiedler -> Commander – Europe at War is Updated (10/12/2007 11:22:37 AM)

New v1.06 update offers better performance and gameplay improvements

Matrix Games and Slitherine Strategies (www.slitherine.com) are proud to announce yet another update is now available for their critically acclaimed WWII grand strategy game, Commander – Europe at War.

This 1.06 update comes with a large number of improvements, ranging from a 30% increase in frame rates and reduced loading and selection times to scores of balance tweaks and changes. The update also includes some map changes like the addition of Belfast as a city on the map, new rules like garrison units can no longer be transported by sea, convoys redirecting to Canada if London falls and much more!

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said “It’s not hard to see why Commander – Europe at War has earned so much acclaim from anyone who has had the chance to play it. This new update is another significant improvement to an already very solid and enjoyable game.”

Iain McNeil of Slitherine Strategies also added, “We’re confident that Commander – Europe at War keeps getting better and better with each update. Our goal has always been the perfect blend of historical gameplay and a streamlined, elegant interface. We’re glad to work together with Matrix Games to bring this title to as many wargamers as we can worldwide.”

Commander – Europe at War allows the player to command the armies of the Axis or the Allies in World War II. With only two goals at hand, survive and conquer, the player is charged with building and commanding the combined air, land and sea forces of his side. Advance your research to the cutting edge of technology in order to best your opponents and either conquer or liberate Europe!

Commander - Europe at War is easy to learn and elegant, but deep in strategy and hard to master. Players will find themselves glued to their chairs from the beginning when all mayhem breaks loose across the continent with the invasion of Poland in 1939. Research new technologies, manage your manpower reserves, improve your industry, husband your oil supply and manufacture armies, fleets, and bombers to use all available strategic and tactical might to bring about victory. Commander - Europe at War includes realistic combat resolution that models supply morale, terrain, leadership, equipment, training, strategic weapons and fog of war. To capture the immense scope and distance of WWII, Commander - Europe at War includes 6 epic scenarios with different starting points, including the famous Barbarossa campaign, D-Day, the battle for France, and finally the Grand Campaign that will let the player refight the entirety of the Second World War the way they see fit!

This patch has not been announced on the Slitherine forum so I am not going to download until the official confirmation from there, just in case there is a problem we don't know about

You can install multiple copies of the game. Just choose a different folder name for the new install and patch to v1.2, moving your game data files to that folder will then allow you to finish the old games.

I have two PBEM matches running where we are mid 1943 and these will be finished under the v1.2 version while I start any new PBEM under 1.4

Erik Rutins -> RE: New Commander – Europe at War Update Now Available (10/12/2007 8:01:20 PM)

It appears we had a communication breakdown and this patch was released prematurely. I'm going to take it down now, it's effectively still the 1.04 Beta. FYI, while we figure out what happened. Apparently an official 1.04 should still be coming.

Erik Rutins -> RE: New Commander – Europe at War Update Now Available (10/15/2007 5:18:51 PM)

Ok, this is now official again - no changes, just a slightly premature release. Apologies to all for the confusion.

WiseMax -> RE: New Commander – Europe at War Update Now Available (12/9/2007 7:30:42 PM)

I just bought it 2 days ago - do I need to patch, or the download (and the CD to arrive later) are current? What's your shipment policy?

Thanks.

In the main screen you get the version number in the bottom right corner.

Compare that with the patch number.

It is probably worth retrying as sometimes the pages are unavailble if demand is high or just due to the mysteries of the Internet!
