How do you stop recon flight over your bases[:@] Is thier anyway to do this or do I have to live with it. I put up alot of cap but they don't chase them pesky planes away. Any hints!!

There is no real way to stop them. You won't even shoot many down.

Recon flights are usu. w/fast planes at high altitude; my CAP shot down a recon w/a P-38, but that was a rare event. Depending on what side your playing and what aircraft you have, you could try CAP at 20,000, but it would probably prove fruitless and wouldn't stop any bombers below; a waste of resources.

Most destroyed Jap recon flights are shot down by FLAK.

Any hints!! <laughter>. Recon flights are a form of psycological warfare - they place fear in the hearts of your troops. Surely if the enemy can fly untouched over your most protected bases then things will fare poorly on the battle fields... So fly your own recon missions - fight fire with fire! Don't let your opponent mess with the minds of your troops. Fly over his bases - try to identify where his troops are - and most importantly, sap the will of your enemy's troops and place fear and uncertainty in their hearts! Of course if you move about 10 AA units into a base the enemy's recon flights might trickle down (at least at that base) <evil laughter>.

The best way to stop recon flights is to bomb their airbase.

[/quote] Is that the JACK OF HEARTS 1eye[:D] My cap is set at 20000ft at every base i have, not a single jap recon flight intercepted throughout the entire game..i'm into mid-'44 with my game[8\|]

Ahhhh - and therein lies the problem. Have you ever tried to identify an enemy plane from the ground when it's flying @ 20k? Your AA units are afraid to shoot due to fear of hitting their own planes [X(] <laughter> Bring those air units down - give them some saki. Relax a little. Try to time when the recon planes come over. Get everyone outside when one comes over and have the troops look up at it and wave to recon pilots with 1 finger. Send a message that your troops are still number 1 [:D][:D].

Lots of flak and high altitute CAP. As Japan I knocked down F5 recons all the time this way. Set your CAP for it's max altitude so it is diving on the recon plane

It is more a case of the number of flights that develop more intel over time.

It is rare but happens. Of course against AI :sigh: I've gotten bot cap and flak kills on enemy recon flights. I thought the low intercept rate was due to me not knowing thier exact altitudes and mathcing it with cap. Almost all my cap are at 12-14 k and do have a few kills on recon. And only 2 or 3 flak kills that I have seen. If I knew all the recon and search plane designations for japanese recon ac I'd look it up. I've lost 1 F5a lightning dedicated recon to flak. But then again the US doesn't get many dedicated recon aircraft until late war.

In my game against MC3744, I lose a couple of Recon Dinah's every turn. Mostly to CAP. His fighter pilots are elite.
