Executioner Five -> Release date? (10/16/2007 12:27:04 AM)

Know you guys won't be specific (although feel free to be if you so wish...) :)

Any idea on this? Is it a 2007 title?

Joel Billings -> RE: Release date? (10/16/2007 1:11:16 AM)

I really doubt this is a 2007 title. We hoped it would be, but we had some delays this summer (not so much problems with the game, but problems getting enough programmer time to finish what was left to be done). Our to do list is reasonably short, but I just don't see us being able to get this done by early December. Usually the publication window closes sometime in December and reopens in February. My money is on February, but I've been wrong before.

geozero -> RE: Release date? (1/14/2008 2:46:59 AM)

So does it look like a February 2008 date is still realistic?

Joel Billings -> RE: Release date? (1/14/2008 8:15:39 AM)

Unfortunately, I don't think so. Keith hasn't been able to make the progress that we were hoping for on his list (his baby and day job are keeping him from getting much time in on WBTS). At this point I should stop making predictions until we see the progress. The good news is that the parts of the game that Gary works on continues to get better while we wait for Keith (we've found and fixed bugs and improved game play and balance).

No worries Joel, I understand the hardships first hand. Get it done right.

hmssws -> RE: Release date? (1/15/2008 6:35:37 AM)

You said you are improving game play and balance......Will there be a historical type scenario.....after all it was not a "balanced" war....Regards, Hank

RedArgo -> RE: Release date? (1/15/2008 3:49:01 PM)

He means balanced in that both sides can meet their victory conditions. There is no way the CSA can actually conquer the Union.

Personally, I find which ever side I am playing to be poorly balanced. Couldn't have anything to do with my lack of skill. [:)]

I cant wait for this one, [:)]

I've never met a Grisgby game I didn't like, but w/the award winning AACW and FoF also distributed by Matrix games, what is Gary's "War Between the States" going to do for an encore?

By the looks of it, I think it has its niche among the three:

- FoF: tactical battles, detailed (if still somewhat "gamey"/abstracted) economy
- AACW: very detailed organizational/operational/strategic
- GGWBtS: strategic level, I would guess it plays faster than either of the other two ("ACW-in-a-day-or-two")? Knowing Grigsby's games, that of course does not mean less deep. [8D]

Pocus -> RE: Release date? (2/5/2008 12:17:32 PM)

I look forward, as a player, to the elegant design of World at War refactored (cleverly as expected ;) ) into WBTS. Also the scale and scope of the game will make it perfect for quick PBEM games.

VI66_slith -> RE: Release date? (2/16/2008 7:08:43 PM)

Sounds like a great title to me as well.

m10bob -> RE: Release date? (2/17/2008 11:47:45 PM)

As far as Im concerned, anything Mr Grigsby makes, I will buy..
Looking forward to this one in a big way.

hmssws -> RE: Release date? (2/18/2008 5:52:30 AM)

I am really hoping you people are correct....I am strictly a "War of Northern Aggression" wargamer and so have not owned any of Mr. Grigsby's products.....I have high hopes for this one.....OK, I'll ask....any update on possibly when we might tentatively expect this game to hit the market?

Joel Billings -> RE: Release date? (2/18/2008 10:26:10 PM)

I lost my bet on February. It's looking like late Spring, early Summer at this point, but it very much depends on how much time we can get from Keith to finish the dozen or so items that he has left to do.

GShock -> RE: Release date? (3/22/2008 8:04:17 PM)

Joel could you update us on the release date pls? :)

Terminus -> RE: Release date? (3/22/2008 10:24:33 PM)

"When it's done" is usually it...[8|][:'(]

Joel Billings -> RE: Release date? (3/23/2008 12:47:36 AM)

Keith has half of his remaining dozen items done, and is working this weekend. Once he's done, it will probably take around 2 months to get the game out. We hope he'll be done soon, but can't say exactly when that will be.

ratters72 -> RE: Release date? (5/8/2008 11:13:18 AM)

I recently read an article about Dr Snitzelbrow's study into turn based strategy game release dates.  He found that the majority that were released in the month of May were not only better received by the community and higher rated in reviews but actually increased in sales.  Go figure.

JudgeDredd -> RE: Release date? (5/8/2008 12:11:08 PM)

[:D][:D]

GShock -> RE: Release date? (5/8/2008 1:05:06 PM)

I don't know about that...i think the best release date is before Xmas but actually for the Matrix policy of digital download, any month would be good especially for the strategic games...the tgt customer is definitely not the kid waiting for Xmas and Santa Claus' gift. ;-)

I think it's more about the DEVs' needs to complete tasks and that if what this reviewer said is true it is only a coincidence.

Usually, press release is unwilling to give a release date even an "elastic one". There's always something popping out, always, and it's bad to give peeps delays of the last minute even though it's always for a good reason. Besides, the longer it takes to build a game and the generally the better it is.

In any case, i own a world divided. It's a big game. wbts will just plainly rock, whatever date it is released. :-)

ratters72 -> RE: Release date? (5/9/2008 2:07:52 PM)

I hear what you're saying GShock... I was amazed when I read Dr Snitzelbrow's report. 5 years of work and he comes up with May? But the statistics don't lie. But just remember when people laughed at his research into the connection of how pc strategy gaming can increase the chance of spouses getting irritated. Who's laughing now. Not me....not me.
