BaseballNoob -> Games vs. Starts. vs. Appearances (10/17/2007 8:42:48 PM)

I have a pitcher who has the season stats of

G 5
App 5
GS 5

According to the MLB definitions, an Appearance is when you are in a Game but are not the Starter. How can this guy have been in 5 Games, been the Starter for all of them, and still have 5 App? Either the App number is wrong, or he should have G of 10, not 5. Am I missing something?

I think the game just says if your in 5 games, then you have 5 appearances, regardless of whether you were the starter or not, but your right, the correct definition is "The number of games in which a pitcher appeared but was not the starting pitcher."

So, in Puresim terms, G will always equal App, yes?

Yes it looks that way

I know Cy Young had a few relief appearences in my league, and he shows G-39 App-39 GS-34
