I've been really enjoying the game so far, but have a few nitpicks. Nothing gamebreaking by any means, just some things that could be polished up.

1) I'm playing at 1920x1200 resolution and most of the smaller maps fit entirely onscreen. However, at the start of a new game with a small map, the view will be panned way over to the left side. I know that it's starting centered on my HQ, but that black and white space is just hideous.

2) The tutorial mission doesn't recognize any victory conditions.

Thanks for all the hard work!

so making those non existing hexes an even color like dark grey would help?
i'll try to address this in the first patch.

thanks for sharing this.

i think i might need to buy a better monitor to test these extreme (for me) resolutions.

An even color would be nice, but I personally think that just limiting how far the map can scroll would be best. Having the initial view be as close to centered on the HQ without displaying more than the first row or two of non-map hexes makes sense, unless there's some reason I'm not seeing for having the map even scroll that far.

While on small things for wish lists; next patch.
Could we have a close window hot key, for the information dialog boxes.
Or is there an easy way to assign or edit the existing hotkeys already?

Westheim -> RE: Nitpicks (10/28/2007 8:01:18 PM)

I have exactly the right thing for the nitpick category.

When engineers are out of EP to build a road and the cursor is above the "Build Road" symbol, it reads "Unit can never cannot build road" in the text line above. Something's deeply wrong with that sentence. "can never" should be erased. There are many more typos everywhere, f.e. in the decision room the card about halftracks contains a "terain" instead of "terrain", but none is so strange than this one.

Awac835 -> RE: Nitpicks (10/28/2007 8:21:30 PM)

In tandem with the engineer part. Maybe have the engineer points together with the supply points so you dont have to actualy get into the build menu to see how many there are.

Pford -> RE: Nitpicks (10/28/2007 8:35:31 PM)

I noticed in the Ardennes scenario that artillery units have the usual range of 2. At this scale, shouldn't this be vastly longer?

Also does arty, on defense, automatically participate in combat? If not, prob should....

Vic -> RE: Nitpicks (10/28/2007 8:39:21 PM)

i wanted to keep all the original scenarios with the release to keep exactly the same rules and stats. thats why i sometimes have made some comprimises in scenario design.

seille -> RE: Nitpicks (10/28/2007 9:11:02 PM)

And this was imho a good decision Vic [:)]
Too many different rulesets would only confuse guy´s like me [:'(]

It may be something to consider for an update, Vic, as well as counter battery fire. Also, a provision to set arty for defensive fire perhaps in the same way that fighters can currently be configured various levels of interception (which is cool).
Cheers.

Total nitpic I just noticed.

On the unit details screen, on the right side - the infantry tab stats are in Courier font, but all of the other views on this screen use Arial.

Magpius -> Small graphic nitpick (10/30/2007 2:26:12 PM)

It would be really nice if the combat results table text aligned with the symbols. Doesn't visually scan easy.
Attackers are okay, but not defenders.

oops, actually those arrows should point downward, as there are no defenders left after this battle.
so I guess you can see why I think they should line up better.

Vic -> RE: Small graphic nitpick (10/30/2007 5:41:59 PM)

@agent s,

agreed. thanks for pointing it out.

Magpius -> RE: Small graphic nitpick (11/6/2007 12:12:18 PM)

any chance in a future patch that random scenarios can be started with a pre-determined number of units rather than having to build them from scratch?
