StormcloudCreations -> Demo coming soon! (10/27/2007 1:02:54 AM)

Hey all,

Just to those on the fence: A small demo will be coming soon that will allow you to play the Skirmish - Syria campaign and try out the game for yourself. We're thinking once people try out the gameplay they'll be hooked! [:D]

Congrats on a very smart move. This is easily a game that one takes a look at one or two non-menu screenshots and goes, "Is this some kind of Apple II port?" and dismisses (for the record, I'm not criticizing). Plus it's a hard game to describe ("Sorta like a highly abstracted strategy sim, but not... sorta like the board game, but not entirely...").

A demo will get a more people to give it a go. And those of us who are enjoying it and seeing potential in future developments of HL or other DV games will certainly appreciate you hooking more in as it's more incentive for you! [:D]

I wish more Matrix Games would have a demo. I can think of at least 5 games I could buy (AdvTact, CommanderEAW, CAW, GOA, ACW) if not more but as none have a demo there really isn't much to convince me since they are all equally interesting and I don't have the time and necessarily the money for all 5 or 10. I don't find AAR's or Reviews very helpful in determining what I will like, and in the end for much of the last five years I'm only purchasing games I've gotten to try first (From any genre, PC and CONSOLE both).

Of course it was easier to break my rule with Hornet Leader as it's priced so well, and in the end whatever the criticisms might be, you can't argue that your more than getting your moneys worth here.

It'll be interesting to see how many may be swayed by a demo, who might have otherwise written the game off for whatever reasons. Perhaps it'll even go so far as to help convince Matrix that demoes are of at least moderatly more value than they've previously been willing to admit to...

As I've always said, we evaluate demos case by case and in this case we saw the value.

hi all,
A demo would have saved alot of greif on the screen res issue. I would have found the issue before purchase.here is hoping not many more customers will get stung. I hope a patch is just around the corner
