mcbradley -> Air Combat Simming, anyone? (6/23/2001 5:26:00 AM)

Please pardon me, Wild Bill, I'm still in boot camp on these forum things and I may be committing blasphemy here by talking about other company's products, but I don't see them being in any kind of competition with Matrix Games. Besides, if you all are like me, you like to engage in a variety of war games, from large-scale strategy and tactics to first-person shoot-em-ups. Besides, I gotta have something to do while eagerly waiting for my Mega Campaign CD to arrive. Anyway, if any of you folks are into combat flight simming there are a couple of new sims coming out in the fall that may pique the interests of those of you that DO enjoy flaming the enemy. One is based on the Viet Nam-era featuring Phantoms, Thuds, Intruders, Skyraiders, and of course MiGs. So far, all I've seen it called is "Project 1", but I don't think it has an official name yet. It is basically the first air combat sim to feature the Viet Nam War. Keep an eye out for it. The second is called IL-2 Sturmovik. Need I say more? WWII Eastern Front air combat and ground attack where you can be either Axis or Soviet. I've included a link to an in-game movie preview for those that like to get their feet off the ground every now and then. Enjoy! http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/previews/il2/movies/index2.shtml Bradley

Well, my .sig file for newsgroups shows an stylised F-15 and a motto "going at Mach 2.5". I guess that this tells something about me :D Anyway, I will take a look to them. And SPWaW is Wonderful. I just wish that they had a separate button for "Aircraft Encyclopedia" so my roaming for the airplanes can be done faster and without distractions. Check Six!
