Erik, you have made my day.

Seriously, now there's hope.

Thanks!

Of course the new side bar almost made me faint, when Empire in Arms appeared... with a (coming soon) instead of a price!

Nice, this is the modern Close Combat that was "in brewing stages" way back when!

Poolmick -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/14/2007 6:06:57 AM)

Looking forward to it.

Kuokkanen -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/14/2007 12:08:47 PM)

What I could see from screenshots, are that when zoomed in, every guy shows as individual while in zoomed way out they are represented as icons. Am I right?

I remember feature like that from old DOS game, Muzzle Velocity. I'd still play it, but the headaching 60 Hz refresh rate ARGH! [:@]

BumInABox -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/14/2007 2:48:37 PM)

I am stoked. I remember the old Close Combats of yesteryear. I will definently put this on the to buy list.

sprior -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/14/2007 9:19:52 PM)

How did this sneak in with no-one noticing? Cool shadow of the F-18 on the ground. Can I blow up that lil white car in the street? NATO/WP too? Will it support NGS?

Kipper -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/14/2007 10:17:28 PM)

Is this for sale in Europe? It isn't on the European store...
Thanks

Erik Rutins -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/14/2007 10:20:14 PM)

Yes, it's for sale in Europe. The store cache is probably still clearing. Did you try the Buy Now links? Those should work right now.

Newton -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/14/2007 10:44:07 PM)

Does this snazzy looking game have single player scenarios or missions or campaigns or is it all multiplayer on line?

TheHellPatrol -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/14/2007 10:59:44 PM)

Damn, i'm gonna have to wait for the "physical shipment", my Satellite limits me to 400MG every 24 hours and I am at capacity for the next 48 hours thanks to Pocus' help with my purchase of AGEOD's Napoleons Campaigns.[8D]. Bring on the hardcopies!

Erik Rutins -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/14/2007 11:00:42 PM)

Hi, see also my post in the announcement thread. Single player missions and scenarios - yep, but every scenario is also designed for up to 10 players multi-player. No single player campaigns, but a great scenario and multiplayer game.

Regards,

- Erik

CushVA -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/14/2007 11:52:54 PM)

how is the single player gameplay?

dutch08 -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/14/2007 11:55:27 PM)

Downloading now (I'm a sucker for anything Close Combat related).

Can Campaigns be designed/modded for it?

Andrew Williams -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/15/2007 12:41:40 AM)

There is no ability to play "Real" campaigns.

25 of the 29 included scenarios are loosely strung together with a narrative form a campaign.

The Other 4 scenarios, the first 4, are getting to know CCMT scenarios.

Titanwarrior89 -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/15/2007 1:22:20 AM)

Look at the crowd.  Its like a yard sale in here.[:D]

msinnot1 -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/15/2007 2:16:38 AM)

I understand that the game does not come with a campaign but does it inlcude a scenario and/or map editor?

Thanks
Mike

Erik Rutins -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/15/2007 2:17:17 AM)

Yes, it comes with a scenario editor.

Yes, it comes with a scenario editor.

Erik, Thanks for the quick response. Sorry to be dense but does the editor allow for map creation as well as scenario creation?

Thanks
Mike

Andrew Williams -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/15/2007 2:33:18 AM)

It also comes with all 29 included scenarios ready for editing, so you can change deployment areas/support/ almost everything to give you more of a challenge.

As with other CC titles, the maps are not editable within the editor (you can choose from any of the many maps included with the game, which are a pretty good representative sample of modern battlefields), but it's possible to make new maps outside the game/editor if you know how. It's not a minor undertaking though, from what I understand, but easier than making a 3D map, for example.

Prince of Eckmühl -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/15/2007 5:44:49 AM)

So, when can I buy a hard copy?

Mistmatz -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/15/2007 12:05:14 PM)

Did I get this right, there is no campaigning like in CC5 (Stratmap, battle groups etc.)?

How about map size I read 1x1km up to 1x4km, how does this compare to a typical CC5 map is this about the same size or significantly larger? I'd assume its bigger or otherwise the mount/dismount wouldn't make much sense - right?

Maybe some of the earlier buyers can do a little comparison between earlier titles of the series and this one, this would be just great! *hinthint* [;)]

I'm no expert at CC Mods, I just got these numbers online so I could be wrong here but...

The largest maps you could make for CC3 were 2880 x 2880 pixels or about 650 meters square.
The largest for CC5 were 3600 square or about 812.5 meters square
The largest map for this game is 1000 meters x 4000 meters or about 6 times the surface area of CC5.

Andrew Williams -> RE: Surprise! Incoming... (11/15/2007 9:37:16 PM)

If you try and run your infantry across the maps they become winded and need a rest.

Loading them up is the answer.

Off board support / on call support is limited by the scenario creator... you will find some scenarios where there is no support at all.

The maps are a mixtue of wide open country that is ideal for the powerful modern weapons (not if your on the receiving end) and more close country that nullifies the impact of the modern weapons systems so you have to call on your infantry to achieve a victory.
