File Name :: Max FB Database Editor v 1.4.4
Author :: JDhalfrack
Description

Uninstall the old version before installing this newer version!

MAKE A BACKUP before using this program. I am not promising that there will be no errors/bugs that will ruin the file.

CHANGE LOG v 1.4
- Fixed an issue with the First Name First or Last Name First option
- Fixed an issue with the program crashing when users enter no value in text boxes <-- thanks MAF
- Added all colleges from all divisions (D-IA, D-IAA, D-II, D-III, and NAIA)
- Added "NONE" and "Semi-Pro" to the list of Junior Football options <-- for garysorrell
- Reworked the randomization of the global edit junior football option (you can now set the ratio likelihood that a player's college is D-IA through NAIA)
- Removed the option "section" and relocated the individual options to loactaions that made more sense ergonomically <-- for Marauders
- Added the ability to view / change / globally edit a players "retired" status <-- for DreamTeams
- Added the ability to view / change player face images
- Re-worked the main attributes editing tab so that it could show the player's face (I tried not to clutter the information on that tab.... let me know what you think of the re-work)

CHANGE LOG v 1.4.1
- Fixed a bug that was a result of me hastily releasing version 1.4 <-- Thanks Marauders

CHANGE LOG v 1.4.2
- Fixed a picture loading bug (which, once again was a result of me hastily releasing version 1.4) <-- Thanks Tbird

CHANGE LOG v 1.4.3
- Fixed a rare bug with saving the player image if there is no image (this happened to me today... the first time in about 100 test trials)

CHANGE LOG v 1.4.4
- Fixed a bug with the editor trying to save nothing into a field which needs at least something <-- Thanks MAF

THINGS THAT DO NOT WORK:
- Currently, anything that is "greyed out" is there because I plan on doing work on it in the future, but it not accessible right now. It's easier to add the structure when adding other things, so that's why it's in the program.

THINGS THAT I AM CURRENTLY WORKING ON:
- code for viewing / editing all other player images (skins, gloves, hands, etc...)
---- I REALLY wanted to get this done before this version, but I will not have time to work on this editor now for about a week, and I really wanted to get the features I added out to you all now... sorry [:(])
- code for adding a new player through the editor
- code for exporting / importing rosters (don't hold your breath for this happening soon)
- the "Teams" tab (basically... an editor for teams)

When using this program, clicking the "Temp Save" button saves the data on the current selection to the program, but not the database. To make all changes permanent (aka, save them to the database), goto Database --> Save.

I am aware of the current list of suggestions/addons and am working as fast as I can to incotperate everything. Just a heads up, though, anything involving extracting/importing is easy code, but takes a LOT of time setting up the correct format. So, those types of functions will come around later.

Goodluck and Enjoy!

Thanks, JD.  I got it up and working.

It looks nice.

I got this error message

The image is in the directory

Okay, I am an idiot. The reason it is doing this error is because I didn't realize the field that saves the faces can either be save as "imagename.bmp" or simply just "imagename" (if you know what I mean). So, I don;t have it checking for both, just "imagename" it then adds the .bmp on its own. I can fix this ASAP (by ASAP i mean tomorrow evening).

I'm really sorry. There are still things I am learning about the way the game saves information.

Great work!
Cant thank you enough for the work so far.

jdhalfrack -> RE: [UTILITY] Max FB Database Editor v 1.4.1 (11/17/2007 3:37:35 PM)

Released another quick update.  I had to re-write 1 line (one stinkin' line...) because of a potential crash.  I was testing the program today when it errored on me because of saving a player with no image.  It only has happened once in like 100 times... but... I had to fix it just in case.

Sorry!

Have a good weekend guys! and.... GO ILLINI [sm=character0013.gif]

MAF -> RE: [UTILITY] Max FB Database Editor v 1.4.1 (11/19/2007 1:43:30 AM)

Not to sound like a broken record, but I got another "Run-time 3315 error". This time it's "Field 'Players. Sound' cannot be zero-length string". Everything was working fine until this happened.

#@!$ I am not sure why it is doing this. I mean, I know WHY it's doing it, I'm just not sure how. I clearly don't let you edit the sound.... so why is it trying to...

Regardless, I will make it so it chacks ALL fields. Then, no matter what, it should save it correctly. I thought I already did this, but I guess I forgot some of the checks. I'll get this done as soon as I can. Sorry.

Okay, I believe I fixed that problem and I updated the editor.

My hope is that this last update will be my last before releasing v 1.5 (or potentially version 2.0).

Thanks for the feedback / bugs guys, it really helps!
