michaelincolorado -> Please explain diff. in scenarios? (11/17/2007 1:16:26 AM)

Been away for a while (2 year old son and working the high tech rat race more than normal to try to avoid lay off) and I am ready to dive back in (I got laid off ...)- can someone please explain the varying scenarios again? I apologize as I know this was covered but I would like to know. Thanks.

And Gil and Eric - thanks for a work of art and consistent demonstration of superior caring for your customers. I will always buy anything you make - add ons, new stuff, anything. You guys are the best.

Michael

Great to hear! (The praise, obviously not the bit about your job situation, which I hope has improved.)

To answer your question: the "Standard Scenario" is the November scenario with the economies of the USA and CSA imbalanced, but not as sharply imbalanced as... "Southern Steel," a version of the November scenario that uses 1860 census data to make the economic and manpower imbalances much starker. The July scenario is called "Coming Fury" and has two versions: the "Southern Steel"-like greatly imbalanced scenario, and the so-called "balanced" scenario. (Both "balanced" and "imbalanced" scenarios have historically valid economic/population data and settings, but in the imbalanced scenarios we went with whichever numbers would make the USA stronger, whereas in the balanced scenarios we often chose numbers that were more favorable towards the South. So it's wrong to think of the economies of the "balanced" scenarios as truly balanced -- the North easily has a stronger economy, just not as much stronger as some people wanted.)

The greatest challenge in FOF is to win as the South when playing one of the imbalanced scenarios.
