I have seen that the Run Time error 91. Object variable or with Block variable not set problem has been brought up in here. It appears you need to update to version 2.0 before you can update to the 2.18 patch and that is what causes the problem.... But where is the 2.0 Patch?? I have reinstalled the game due to a new pc and cannot get pass this run time error. I have also read you do not need to buy the whole new version of 2.0 but if you need 2.0 to upgrade to 2.18 patch then where do you find it ??

When you register your game, it should be in the private members area.

And yes, 2.1.8 is an update to version 2.0. You can't update version 1.0 installations with it directly.
