New York Jets -> Icon Question (11/22/2007 8:23:05 PM)

I'm not sure if I missed this in book. (By the way, where do I access an updated rule manual?)

On the base of depots, units and leaders there are a series of boxes that light up.

What do they mean in each respective case?

Somebody please answer this one. Also, in the Bull Run Scenario why do both armies just sit in Manassas staring at each other, but no battle takes place turn after turn. I have the rebels set to attack, but nothing happens. Is the scenario broken, or is it as I fear my own dementia confronting me in yet another battle that I cannot win?

Oh, the humanity.

Hi!
Light boxes mean size of the army (i think its 3 units per box). Color, the health&cohesion of the army. Green: good, yellow: so so. Red: bad
On ports and cities with port the blue ones are fleets.
BUT... its not so useful as it seems because it counts units, not elements. So three big divisions with 18 element each can be represented as one green box... the same that three paltry militia units [:(].
Better to look at the tooltips. But lights are OK for a rough and fast idea on the strength.

Also, when you put the supply filter the meaning of the little boxes change. Then it means the supplies situation of the units (green: good... you know...).
Very useful to notice supply problems at a glance.

It could be several things.
1- If both armies on the area are on defensive there will be no combat.
2- If one of the armies is inside the city, the other have to assault (red) to begin combat. On defensive (blue) or offensive (orange) stance the other army will only siege.
3- Your top leader on the region is not activated and can't take offensive actions. Even if you put them on attack they will revert to defense on turn resolution until the leader is activated.
But you can detach part of the force and make another stack under an activated leader and attack with it.

thats all i can think of... [:)]
Cheers!

Thanks Arsan!

I think they were not engaging because I had that delay thing on. Another thing that was driving me crazy was I could never win a battle, no matter which side I was on. Finally noticed I had the hardest setting on the AI. Turned it down to mentally defective, and i now win half the time!
