Can't see kicking bar/icon (Full Version)

I had this game on the shelf for awhile and just started playing. I have played four games, and in three I could not see the strength/accuracy bar for kicking/punting (which, of course, made kicking/punting impossible). I see the box saying to hit A for direction, etc, but I don't see the icon to actually use. Does viewing this have to do with the screen resolution I select? Everything else seems to be viewable.

If you have the time, could you please give the resolutions this does not show up on.

I have tried 800 x 600 16 and 32, and 1152 x 864 16 and 32. The icons showed up one time of the five games I have now played, and like a true dummy, I do not recall the setting when it did appear. Thanks for any help!!
