WhiteOwl -> Australian Scenarios (11/25/2007 1:02:36 AM)

Hi, thinking about buying this simulation, but have a question re scenarios. I would prefer playing smaller regional scenarios, rather than massive cold war style ones. How many scenarios in the game would you say fit this description? I am specifically interested in royal navy and royal australian navy scens, modern and old, and am also interested in learning through this simulation a bit more about the falklands war. So, all in all, would you recommend that I buy it?

Thanks very much in advance!

The game distributed by Matrix comes with several "Battlesets".  Two of them are named "Regional Conflicts" I and II.  The WestPac battleset includes two scenarios named AustralAsian War I and II.  Two Falklands scenarios are also included, Malvinas2 and FalkWar.  There are also PlayersDB versions for all of these scenarios.

A few more Falkland scenarios are currently under construction for the PlayersDB.  'Vulcan 607' is the first release for this new battleset.  http://www.GameSquad.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=36

Other small regional scenario battlesets for the PlayersDB include ' Hugo's Folly' ; an invasion of the Dutch Antilles by Venezuela and 'Second Lebanese war'; exploring possible consequences of the Israel/Lebanese war in 2006.

A number of scenarios also exist for the Db2000 that focus on the Australian navy.  Klaus Behrman has two regional battlesets.  One is called the " Indonesian Crisis" and the other is "New East Asian Prosperity Sphere", and there are two Falkland War battlesets, Falklands War - 1982 and 2002. http://www.harpoonhq.com/?page_id=320

If you find the 100s of existing scenarios lacking - you can always do your own with the scenario editor.

If you are really commited and don't like the existing databases, you can can create your own. Although that's a big job...

Welcome aboard!
